Brandon Dixon enters Formula 1000 Championship Series
Cape Coral, FL (October 11, 2011) - 2011 Mystt Vodka F1000 Champion and 2010 SCCA Runoffs Champion, Brandon Dixon has entered the 2012 Formula 1000 Championship Series, full time. Dixon will campaign his Citation F1000.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Formula 1000 Championship Series next year,” stated Dixon. “This series has the potential to draw new racers into F1000, increase the level of competition, and improve the visibility of the F1000 class. I fully expect this series to ‘raise the bar’ and we will work hard to continue to develop our car and the entire package to remain competitive.”
“It’s great to have someone of Brandon’s stature and experience in the Series,” claimed Series’ Managing Director, Jon Lewis. “Brandon is a proven Champion and his car has also proven to be very quick. He will have lots of competition in 2012 with several other seasoned veterans entering the Series as well as a host of new talent. It looks to be a very exciting season.”
Dixon, the 2010 SCCA National Champion and 2011 Mystt Vodka F1000 Champion, returned to racing as a partner in the design and manufacturing of the Citation F1000. Construction of the Citation F1000 began in 2007 with the car’s first campaign in 2009. F1000 had its first Runoffs race in 2010, and Brandon won the Championship while setting the lap record.
Brandon holds a PhD in Computer Science from Princeton and is a Computer Science Professor at the University of Alabama. Brandon is married with two children.
The Formula 1000 Championship Series is sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing and consists of 10 races throughout eastern North America. F1000 cars are some of the most technically advanced in junior motorsports and the Series is open to a host of chassis and engine combinations.
