    Default ARRC whos going?

FB at the ARRC fifth year. Will there be more than the first? Registration is open.

    From General Events

Some of you have already figured it out, but links to the registration system and other information about the weekend (Nov 4-6 at Road Atlanta) can be found here:

    Default I am

The RO's were a pretty big disappointment for me, so gonna try to end the year on a high note.

This has been said before, but just in case there are any FB noob's in the house - this race weekend typically has incredible fall southeastern weather - mid 40's in the morning, and maybe small 70's for a high.
Except for the hail last year, I have to go pretty far back to remember a wet ARRC.

It is my understanding that there will be an entry from a state out west that has a really large salty lake.

We might as well throw down the gauntlet, so-to-speak and issue a challenge of sorts...
As the ARRC is the spiritual home of F1000 (and if things go like they appear to be heading, maybe the future home as well), maybe we can get a jump on next year to try to lock in our own group (J/K, Butch... er, sort of)!

Way too far to tow from San Diego....

Coop? Your own run group? What, you don't like coming under the bridge full boogie and instantly seeing a Reynard sideways in the track right in front of you?

I would go if anyone with a decent size trailer from South Florida has some room. My truck needs too much work, and gets about 8mpg. It just makes it too expensive for any tow that distance at this time. For now, I can tow locally, but that's about it.

I saw this ad awhile back. You might check with Keith. They are in Georgia.

Our new Phoenix F1000 is available to rent for SCCA races and test days. Interested parties can contact me via email, Keith@teamrobertsracing.com or phone 706-407-1850

    Thanks,

    Keith Roberts

Hi Jon, Nope. We did run two ARRC weekends and they were a blast. Cole drove in '07 and Shane in '08. I sold subs..haha. I wish everyone going a great weekend. We are running Sebring Oct and Nov. Just isnt enough time to do all three. Then the car is rented for January.

So will the FB's actually then run as FS's, since FB had a Runoffs race this year?

As Coop wrote, B's are B's and we've eliminated the restriction on Runoffs drivers competing at the ARRC by GRM in the same class (which is why many FB's ran in FS in the past). The ONLY restriction is drivers competing on a Novice permit must get approval from the Chief Steward to run.

The ARRC by GRM is now a "Super Regional (or Rational)" much as the June Sprints is more than your everyday National.

    See y'all at the track...

Keith's car isn't available, as it is being run by a guy from Utah named Russ.

However, if someone really wanted to run it, I might be convinced to drag my own car out.

So the 2011 ARRC will be like the RunOffs except you don't have to qualify & regional only cars can enter.

    Default That's a good start...

Man, how I long for the old days, you know when F Thou was brand new, and the ARRC would pack in a dozen n' a half of the screaming meanies:

The grid was sprinkled liberally with conversions, homebuilts, and Stohr's.
Name dude's were flown in and ushered to the track in sleek stretch limos...

In the Q's, lap times were falling every session, sometimes in full second chunks; oh the times were grand they were... (This last quote is in need of verification, but these were very heady days).

The mid-autumn southern sun, such a delight in the afternoon with it's warm golden glow, leads to long late afternnon shadows, then turns devilish at it's lowest point - which is when we run, Group 8!

King of the Konversions, current Rd A lap record holder, last year's National Champ, and all around good guy Brandon Dixon has to be favored to take home the ARRC crown, but has gone on the record to say they are really only running this event to test some new stuff. Uh-huh...

West coast shoe Russ Werner, flyin' his own ass to Georgia, thank you, will probably rent a van at Hartsfield Int'l to haul his considerable skills northwards about an hour and a half to the track. He'll be piloting a rental Phoenix out of the Team Roberts stable, basically a twin to the car he has used to much success at places like Miller.
Werner, an old school "cable and bellcrank" kinda guy will be up against some serious assisted shifters in the hands of Dixon and...

2009 F Thou Champ Giancarlo Di Coopola.
The Italian has been chomping at the bit to actually have a race with some of his North American friends:
Many times qualifying was very tight only to have the race itself devoid of much racing quite ironically, due to many factors (mostly!) beyond his control.

"I very much want to have good fight with the other driver's" was all he would go on the record with.

Jason Slahor makes his 2nd ARRC appearance in his Novak-Van Diemen, crewed by Dad, Gary.
He's had a few years to tweak what was an "incredibly on the money straight offa the setup pad" kinda chassis, and has a legitimate shot at the rostrum.

West Georgian Pete Frost (Dude's basically from Alabama!) is now entered in another Phoenix, and brings several years of 1000cc bike engined DSR experience to the table.
Pete's times at Road Atlanta at the last National were pretty respectable for the first time in the car there, and I'm sure he's anxious to learn a ton from Team Roberts own Keith, he himself a multi time SCCA National Champ.
