Saw the post on FB and that reminded me of the list. Here are some updates I have picked up since I moved to San Diego. Jeff Lonsdale #56, 67 Solo Vee: David Boles now has the Drouin Van Diemen in San Diego, #68, so remove the Drouins; Ron L and Kristi S(sorry, no last names on the results) run a 76 Lola 342 in San Diego #84. My current # is 251. I also met someone in LA who is saying(for a couple of months) his FF will be back together soon.

I am buying Groot from Phil.

I am hoping to compete at the Indy Region Drag cross on August 31 at Grissom. I had the very fast D Mod YC3 and currently have the a Herb Adams built aluminum monocoque Cobra Replica but when imagining myself really having fun driving it always has come back to FF. Nothing I have driven handles like a good FF. Think about turning and it is done.

    I'll be selling the Cobra.

For now. No promises on the future. I might run #1. I hope to run this weekend at Grissom but need to sort minor things like making sure the belts fit, and how to get it in and out of my trailer.

    Default progress

Looks like I'll be running the number 5 for now as that is what is on it. I was planning to trim off a bit of the clutch pedal to make more room for my shoe but when I started to do that I discovered it has already been trimmed. I worked it a few times and hopefully it won't be a problem.

Yesterday I added some spacers to my trailer so I can drive the car into the trailer without dragging. Today I will look at the shoulder harness mounting brackets as they are digging into my shoulders. It might be just the seat needing shifted.

I am getting more skilled at getting in and out. I don't dread it now.

I am spoiling for action now. I am hoping with the message from the President last night our Governor will allow us to run autocross. Is there any effort from scca to keep us still at present?

I definitely understand the desire to start autocrossing again! I really do. I'm there.

But hopefully the Governors of the country will know that it is dangerous to discontinue the safeguards that are currently in place. Epidemiologists and physicians are in agreement that it is too soon. And SCCA is run by some pretty smart people. I think they too will recognize that it is too soon.

Look at it this way using this analogy:
"The curve is flattening so we can start lifting restrictions now"
is the same thing as saying:
"The parachute has slowed our rate of descent so we can take it off now".

    Hang in there!

I'm not a doc but it would seem no more dangerous than taking a hike as long as people wear masks and gloves and keep proper distancing.

This seems reasonable but once you start working through the logistics of hosting an autocross with the application of Covid protocols, holding an autocross (or race) becomes extremely problematic.

Tech inspectors need to touch cars and even sit inside to operate the brake pedal and steering wheel.

Timing and scoring crews sit in a van together.

As for course working, the distancing recommendations will actually help force our course workers to spread out!!! A good thing.

Paddock and grid areas would have to be enlarged. Some sites won't allow for this.

    Waiver signing becomes problematic.

For clubs that don't use online registration, this too would be complicated.

Trophy presentation is minor and can be eliminated.

Some site owners may not allow access.

There are travel restrictions. Some states are prohibiting out of state travel. I live in upstate NY. But Massachusetts, Connecticut, and perhaps others don't want me to enter their state. In some counties you are not allowed to enter the county unless you live or work there.

And the medical experts are telling us that while masks help reduce transmission of the virus they do not eliminate it. Being outdoors actually may spread transmission area.

With all of this, it makes putting on an event extremely problematic.

But I'm with you. I want to get out there. Even if my car isn't ready, I've had friends tell me that I can co-drive with them until my car is done.

    Hang in there.

So sorry for your loss, Lynn. As noted previously, I used that warehouse 18-20 years ago when I lived in St. Louis. Heartbreaking to see it burn, with everyone's hopes, dreams, and hard work inside. I also obviously have a fondness for Reynards. Let us know what we can do to help.
