Warning Lights

I want to install a low oil pressure/high water temp light in my car. I'm thinking about a super bright LED. Radio Shack has a 10mm Orange LED with a 12,000 mcd brightness.

Has anyone done this or does everyone just use incandescent bulbs?

I am not the electrical expert by any measure, but I am in the process of having similar warning lights put on my car, and we are using 10mm something or other, and I believe they are being used because there is no voltage draw...

Dave, LED lights work very well for these applications because they draw so little amperage in comparison to an incendesant type bulb and that's important on cars that have no charging system. By the way, you should be charging your battery after every session. They also put out a lot of light so you can see them in the day time. They tollerate the high frequency vibration these cars put out quite well. The only thing I would be careful about is aligning then in your field of vision since sometimes they can be hard to see if off angle.
