    Default 2011 FB Runoffs Thread

There hasn't been much discussion yet regarding the Runoffs. Seems like time to start a thread.

We are at 11 entries right now, anybody else coming, or on the fence?

Any rumors, who's going to protest who

Of course I'll be there, giving away some cash from Mystt Premium Vodka, George Dean, and Taylor Race Engineering, plus a set of custom wheels from Jongbloed.
I'm on the fence whether I'll enter the race or not.

    Default Runoffs attendance

Brandon we are just trying to see what Taylor's school and exam schedules are. THEN, see if we can tow out from the Wet Coast with someone else, 32 hours is a bit of a haul.

At this point we are more that 50/50 of coming.

Keep pur fingers crossed, now if you committed to mentor (AKA show) Taylor the RA tricks that might really swing the decision!

On the down side, I heard today that a couple of the Oregon guys may not be able to make it.

    Regards

Apparently Brandon's offer was enough to sway the Archers. We're up to 12:

Default I guess I'm the last guy

who drives an FThou car that has just found out we have our own race at the Runoffs.
Can anyone tell me when that was decided?
I feel a scosh outta the loop on this, as it will be the first time we have our own race:

Every single F1000 Championship race from the first ARRC, every June Sprints, last years 1st ever R/O's - we have always had at least 1 other class, and sometimes 5 or 6 others (ARRC's).

    I feel tingley all over...

It has been on the schedule like this the whole time. FB will qualify with FA but have their own race.

Default Sorry Guys down to 12

Sorry to say that Taylor got his schedule for University, his mid terms as well the campus recruitment schedule, based on the timing of those events we are going to have to do the "responsible thing" and put his education ahead of the race this year.

Thanks to Jesse Brittsan who helped us put together a competitive race car. Thanks to Brandon Dixon for volunteering to help a fellow competitor. And thanks to the great group of guys Taylor raced with in Portland and Miller in our very short season, I appreciate the support and mentorship you have provided to Taylor.

Also a big thanks to Mike Beauchamp and Thomas Copeland who put in such huge efforts in their respective series to help build F1000.

We will look forward to watching a great race on SpeedcastTV.

Pretty lame after all the talk last year and this year.

To the Archers, I will tell you something that I wish I had understood while I was in college: It's not going anywhere, it will still be there later.

    Around it!

Head south to the equator and start walking East or West. Continue at the same latitude until you reach your starting point. This is easier and is the same place you will end up trying to get to the run offs with the criteria you have met for qualifications. All the logic in the world won't help. It is what it is.

And now we're down to ten with another West coast drop: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...60404C4158BA90

Here is a list of guys that could enter the Runoffs:
    David Burkett
    John LaBrie
    Russ Werner
    Randy Mitchell
    Kyle Oberndorf
    Rod Rice
    Rod Morley
    Nicho Vardis
    Richard Cottrill
    George Levien

I realize that there are many factors in a driver's decision that a little peer pressure can't overcome, but keep in mind that if the Pro series takes place next year, this could be the last F1000 Club race with double digit fields.

Plus, there's $500 cash to the winner!

If you're on this list, what would it take to get you to Road America?

Ken , as I have read it the last 2 years, you need at least 11 cars to take to the track for atleast 1 qual session for someone to get a SCCA gold medal for the win. I have been worried about this as people dropped out. If someone has trouble in testing and cant make a Q session there is no leeway at the moment.

It would be great to get some more cars there to make sure that we have a race.

What would it take to get one or two more cars to come?

Bellings? You know you want to come and show us what a developed RFR can do. If you are already going to be there you might as well bring the cars. Just make Alex work harder.

Jon Lewis has provided some enticement to kick someone off the fence!

    http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47983

It's dissapointing that we get our own Runoffs race without sharing the track with any other class and we can't get as many cars as the 2007 ARRC.

P.S. The schedule this year gives us double the track time (2 Hrs) for qualifying.

The offer has been increased to the first two drivers not currently entered in the Runoffs.

Time to enter and compete in the runoffs!!!!

Increase the numbers and take advantage of a free entry in the Formula 1000 Championship Series!!!

I would like nothing more than to take advantage of the offer - thanks Jon!

However, I can't do it. The Runoffs would be awesome, but are too costly in terms of money and time - as much money as three out-of-state race weekends while consuming 8-9 days off of work. And I have neither at my disposal.

Now, if in the future we could do them in 3 or 4 days that would be different as it would cut the costs in half.

So with that goal in mind, I drew up a sample schedule that would require the field to be there only three or four days - while providing the same amount of track & race time and retaining the exact same run groups for practices and races as the current 2011 schedule. It actually works, but does require racing on Wed/Thr and Sat/Sun, which goes against the preferred Fri-Sun time frame. Therefore, it probably won't go anywhere within the SCCA, although I did send it in to them as a suggestion just in case.

So I really wish I could make it but it's just not possible - I've already spent all the money (and had a blast doing so, attending 10 double national races this year). Hopefully that means I did my part for the national numbers.

So good luck to everyone - I'll be watching from here!

This is one reason I never went when I was an active F2000 SCCA driver. I had no desire to waste endless hours waiting for the next group on-track session.

This year it's even worst. Isn't there something like two and half days between the quailfying session and the race? Sitting around all day Friday and Saturday don't sound like too much fun to me. Guess you could go have a great weekend in Chicago or something like that then come back and do the race.......if you weren't too hung over that is (which I probably would be)......but who in their right mind comes up with a schedule like that anyway? No wonder entries are dropping out. They probably finally took a real good look at the schedule.

Even though I enjoyed my visit there last year I think I'll spend this year watching the race from the comfort of my living room with laptop in hand cheering you all on. Good luck.

BTW That is a pretty nice offer Jon. I hope someone takes you up on it.

This would require some sort of sign-off from the Stewards. Might be a tough sell if you haven't run RA.
You can show up on Thursday, qualify, and run the race on Sunday.
Entry fee is $450, plus $100 for a parking space, which are probably all taken. A generous person might let you squeeze into his spot, if your set-up isn't too big...
Driver has to qualify the car.

    Do it.

Nicho, that is a question for John Nesbitt to research. My guess is if you have qualified to enter the Runoffs, it would just take a word with the chief steward of the run group, and you would start from the rear. (Just as i did in '05)

John would know how to find out. He posted his 7x24 help number a few days ago on Apexspeed.
