Default No flow from water pump!

I just installed the radiators (and coolant) on a standard FM, and when I started the engine there was absolutely no flow of coolant out of the water pump thru the top hose to the swirl pot. I suspect an air pocket in the system that is preventing the water pump from being primed, but I am not sure how to vent the air.

Has anyone experienced this problem with an FM? And if so, any ideas on the easiest way to get the water pump working properly? Thanks.

There is the tstat in the path. Until that opens, there will be no flow. Some people will drill about a 1/8" hole on the tstat to alow a small of water and the air to bypass.

Sorry....I should have mentioned that this particular car does not have a thermostat installed. It does have a threaded plug in the bypass hole located under where the thermostat would be.
