Default Make that five

I just registered - now we have 5 FST's and 3 of them are from Cincinnasti. It looks like we ran the Chicago contingent away.....

Default Roll Call - Update

6 Cars registered and we are dominating the Race group so far - just 1 lonely Vee. But I suspect we will see a bunch of other cars FV, F500, FF/CFF etc before race day.

Gary Sharp - Allen Adderley - whats the word, will we see you at the ARRC this year??

Default Its OK when everyone behaves

I've run the practice day in the last few ARRC events - always the same grouping. You have to be aware of your mirrors and people have to behave. Over the past few years that's exactly what's happened. The laps are very busy keeping an eye on everything but I've felt comfortable with the folks I'm running with.

I can attest to the comments Doug made, however I will add, its always a wakeup call when you get pulled sideways in the wake of an IMSA Light car.

Default ARRC

Not going to make the ARRC this year. I just got a week of work in Denver that weekend. Car is coming along though. Including a picture of the mighty Audi R18 under the bridge at the Petit Lemans and new wiring on the Citation. Terminal strip on the left is signal, right is power.

Well, I think I'm out for ARRC. I contracted with a guy to do my driveway and paid 1/2 down. Well, it's been several weeks and excuse after excuse and now the guy's not returning calls or e-mails. I have a feeling I'm out $3K and still have the same driveway.

I'm about to the point where it seems the Gods are just against me racing. Probably going to out everything up for sale, so if you know anyone looking for a race ready FST set-up . . . . . .

Yup, and checked references, etc etc. Turns out the guy is a good con man. Will be filing suit as well as a criminal complaint for Theft by contractor. But there's reason to believe he may no longer even be in the state. Don't go there at the moment.

Steve,

Fear not, I had the same novice permit issue that was resolved very quickly by the Chief Steward and Lynn Sweatte.

Default Potential Change in Group 3 Make-up

Here's an e-mail I just sent out:

I’m sending this to all Group 3 drivers and the five (potentially) affected FC/CFC drivers via :bcc.

We currently have 18 cars in Group 3 and 41 cars in Group 8. What we’re considering is moving the five FC/CFC cars from Group 8 into Group 3 to (a) help balance out group sizes and (b) perhaps give the folks in Group 8 fewer things to run into. Part of the process is to make sure no one in the affected classes will get their shorts in a knot if we do this.

Besides the change in traffic patterns there would be two car numbers that would be in conflict. In this case we’d ask the FC/CFC drivers to change since they are the “intruders” and would ostensibly receive the greatest benefit from the proposed change.

Car 5 – Dave Klutsenbaker (FC) and Doug Seim (FST); Dave taking number 15 would alleviate the conflict.

Car 17 – Robert Corliss (FC) and Anthony Henderson (FV); Robert taking number 7 would alleviate the conflict.

If you have objections or even concerns about this change please “Reply All” (actually post here) so I can forward your comments to both the Chief Steward (Jack Marr) and the Chair SOM (Bob Horansky).

Just trying to be proactive and improve the racing experience for everyone...

As I am hooking up the trailer for my 12 hour tow, I can't say I'll be jumping up and down at the chance to race with FC's.

Since I've been an assistant race chair in the past I do understand the problem Butch and the Atlanta Region are up against. I just wish that this decision would have been made a little sooner.

Oh well, I'm committed at this point so I'll be there regardless.

Default ease your fears

The Atlanta Region has experimented multiple times this year with running FC in with the FF/FVees. Both in National and Regional events. It has worked out real well. I've run in three of those events.

I personally know all but one of the FC/CFC drivers, there is a lot of experience in the group. All have been racing FC (or faster) for over 10 years. They are a safe bunch. Usually by Turn one on the start you won't see them again for about 6 or 7 laps, and by then they are sorted and stretched out.

Please do not do anything about start splits until we can speak. I will be at Doug Seim's Trailer car # 5.

I don't anticipate a split start in Group 3 whether we add FC/CFC or not.

The final decision to move FC/CFC comes from the SOM - I was just trying to gather data from which they can base their decision. Right now the response is 10 "no problem", 2 "I'll stay at home instead", and no reply from the other 13.

That would be my expectation, too. My hunch and hope is that it will not be a problem for any of us.

Default From Robert Clarks FB Status

ARRC - Road Atlanta Qualifying 1 - track cold, temps in the 40s managed to get Provisional pole with 1:42 but expect faster times this avo. Seim dropped out with broken push rod, Smith broken throttle.

Looks as if yesterday was interesting too...but at least this give you an idea whats happening.

Bob,

That would be because the IT race is currently ongoing (I.E. Live Timing). The FST race is over. I don't know of the link for results.

Default Jacer first podium

The planets aligned for Reece this weekend, starting 2nd ,ran off along the grass turn 1 and spinning then charged through the field catching dawson then ran nose to tail with clark eventually passing for the lead for about 10 seconds. Clark took the win by 3 car lengths.
Will post video tonight with the track comentary which was awesome.
Thanks to sr racing for their support.
