Default LMI and BHF

Just sobering up from a great weekend at Blackhawk Farms Raceway for the Firecracker Double Regional. There are a few people I have to thank for thier awesome help this weekend.

Two days before the event, my crewchief (dad) had knee surgery, but that didn't stop him from preparing the car for each session all weekend. The Blackhawk Farms track manager, Tom, loaned us the use of his golf cart all weekend so that my dad could get around the facility. When I thanked him for his hospitality, he said "Hey it's Blackhawk Farms, that's just what we do". First class all the way...

During the test day on Friday, the car had a high RPM miss and the carb was loading up in right hand corners. There was no way we would be on pace come Saturday with the car performing like that. Bruce Lindstrand and Nicole Temple from Lindstrand Motorsports dropped what they were doing and offered their help and the car ran great for the rest of the weekend.

It's people like Tom, Bruce and Nicole that make it possible for a regional club racer with limited knowledge/experience like myself to go from possibly having an expensive bad weekend to having a great weekend that I'll remember for a long time.

    Thanks again LMI and BHF!

To Ethan's post, it was great to see him and his father, knee surgery and all, at Blackhawk this weekend. IIRC the last time I saw them was at RA under less auspicious circumstances.

Tom is the best, and is a big part of why racers like racing at Blackhawk so much. The track is well managed and racer friendly. If Tom would only make it an easier track to go fast on, well . . .

I have been the beneficiary of LMI's work for 8 years now. I consider myself the most fortunate driver in motorsports. I have seen LMI help out folks as they did Ethan, get cars into races when the car had no business starting, deal with ornery trolls under the Sargento Bridge, and generally pull off miracle after miracle when needed. I cannot put in words what Nick, Bruce, and the rest have done for me.

Results . . . turnout was low, the heat was brutal, and I think everyone had as much fun as Ethan noted. The Firecracker is always one of my favorite events, and this year was no different.

On Saturday John Luxon broke a stub axle, I think, and lost a wheel. The wheel went missing until it was found Saturday night perched high on the limb of a tree near the carousel.

    Sunday

John Haydon was on a mission in Club Ford. I got to see some of his video and it was awesome.

Now these are the stories that make racing memorable. Great people (LMI) and great stories (a wheel lost up in a tree!!). Did they have to call the fire department to get it down like Miss Johnson's cat, Marbles?

I wouldn't be where I am without Bruce, Nic, Cindy, Jeff and the rest of the LMI clan. Great folks indeed.

Third that for LMI, can't count how many novice questions, problems and operator errors they have solved at the shop and the track over the past few years to keep me from ever missing a session. Bruce also excel’s at canopy in a windstorm rescue!

Default Oh yeah, LMI. #1 baby

Like the rest of you, LMI has saved several weekends for me, not to mention probably saved my car and my engine from myself, especially when I first got started.

This weekend, they tried like *@%# to find a shock that I could fit on my car so I could race again. Bruce was ready to drive to his shop, but couldn't think of anything he had that would work. I think they may have been more disappointed than I was.

The one thing I have NOT been able to get them to do though, is do something to Wheatcroft's car to slow him down. And believe me, I always ask! I did get to enjoy watching Mr. Smooth blast around that track from the sidelines on Sunday, nice driving Allen. You sure make it look easy.

Ethan/Pat, it was truly a pleasure to see Ethan do so well this weekend. It's as though all the effort you two have put into that car is FINALLY starting to pay off. But you shouldn't try to go any faster. You're quick enough now.
