Ok I know the paints not dry on Waterford yet and the defence evidence still needs to be presented - but its only 3.5 weeks till Grattan - so its time to start collecting names......

We are Race Group 7 for those that haven't seen the schedule - so be prepared for long day Sunday.

Now my question: Do I tape the hole under the filter shut or use JB weld

Here is the deal as printed in the supps:

CAR CLASSES: Entrants will be divided into seven (7) groups (six if the FFDA has fewer than 12 entrants in Race Group 7)

We currently have our own race group, but if we have less than 12 entrants, we are moved into group 5 consisting of:

SCCA: F500, F600, FF, CFF, FV, FST
MC: F440, F500, FF, CFF, FV, FI



There are exactly 11 on our current list (with 4 officially entered). Some cushion would be nice

There are a couple of rental rides available at Grattan. Its a newly paved track, great place to race. The jump turn makes for great photo opps to impress your friends. You can PM me and I'll get you directly in touch with the principles.

Its less than you think and its a cheap place to spend the weekend especially compared to Road America. Easy drive out from Detroit airport.

That turn reminds me of a track in Thompson, CT. It is (was?) a high banked oval with a road course. The last turn was a left hander with a small amount of banking that dumped you onto the straight. Unfortunately, it dumped you out on the banking of the turn for the oval which was off camber for us. Everyone was airborne every lap and more time and discussion was spent figuring out how to get around it more safely than quickly. AFAIK, it was never an SCCA track but they held occasional events there. This event was a "pro vee" race in the mid-seventies.

For those interested there is a test day on the Friday - Grattan usually runs a whole day or half day setup - so you can run four sessions for the whole day or turn up around lunch and run two in the afternoon - from memory its around $140 for the whole day.

I'd love to get there for the whole day but I can't leave until early Friday morning. 5 hour drive and a one hour time change, noon will be pushing it for me. But I should still get two sessions in at least. Hopefully there will be some people around to help us get strapped in - still haven't gotten down the strap in in the Citation with the HANS - working on it!
