Default Lazer Owners and Former Owners

Lazer owners and former owners please PM me or contact me direct at (amylynnracing@yahoo.com)

I have questions about your experiences with the chassis and the car as a whole. I have been a fan of these since they came out and want to know your input on how they drive, what tricks you have to make them better and how to make them accessable to larger drivers.

    Brian,

I never owned a Laser, but did rent one from Noble back in '91 (see red car in photos). It was an original L-85 with the carbon fiber sides and twin rear shock zero roll pull rod suspension. It was definatly a "young mans" car. When Larry took over the project, he took it to a much improved level. The car grew inside (less of a "young mans" car) and simplified the rear suspension to a mono shock zero roll.

The Laser Mk 2.5 is a car that is capable to run right up front at the Runoffs in the hands of a capable driver.

Mike Beaumia is a not so young man who has made modifications to his Laser to make it fit him a little better (white # 91 in photo).

My opinion, the Laser is a sleeper.

I am sorry but I forgot, do "good looks" correlate to great aero or handling performance?

    Brian,

In the case of the Laser, the answer to your question is "yes, they do".

Apparently they do in this case, but you might also note that I didn't mention anything about aero or performance in my post! It was a pretty simple statement Brian, I'm surprised you misunderstood it somehow.

Quite honestly Brian I don't care what the aero numbers are. That is why I asked people to e-mail me or send me an I.M. I didn't want this post to be a debate on the short comings of the chassis but rather owners and drivers that have tried them giving me ideas on how they liked the chassis and what they did to make them their own.

Off the cuff derogatory comments are not welcome.

Thank you guys that have replied and I hope to get more ideas coming in.

    Default Mark Donohue Quote

The late racing legend Mark Donohue noted that race cars are like women: If they look right, chances are they are right

I just thought this was a valid quote here

I always loved the looks of the Lazer, but since I'm far removed from my horse jockey size, I'll have to stick with my P-2 which fits me perfect. The Lazer is one of the best looking Vee's ever!

    Jean,

I thought I had it, but he has changed jobs recently and I don't have his home email. I'm sure a number of people have his contact info. I know Larry Campbell does. PM him here at "Campbell Motorsport".

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

    Default Mike Beaumia Contact

    Sounds good.

So Jean, you now have a Laser? Knew you had inquired about Lance's Vector GB-4. The Laser will be a fun project. Best wishes with your new car.

    FYI.....

I was at a B & N bookstore yesterday and looked through HotVW's. There was a few pages from the Salt Flats and someone was there with a Lazer! Not much info about it but at least a picture and speed.

Something you can at least file with your project!
