Default FF at the Mtl F1 Grand-Prix

Montréal, April 6, 2011 – A gathering of nearly 40 drivers, that will include a mix of seasoned veterans and young hopefuls, will once again line up on the starting grid of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, next June 10, 11 & 12, for a round of the 2011 Formula 1600 Series schedule. Octane Racing Group, promoter of the event has announced today the return of one of the Montréal crowd favourite open-wheel series at the Grand Prix du Canada. Besides the familiar names of the Bonnet family father and son team, Didier Schraenen, and other stars of the Québec-based series, several top drivers from Ontario, the United States and even a young hot shoe from New Zealand are expected in Montréal that weekend.

Hey J. Thanks for the links. Any thoughts, experience and/or advice for crossing the border with our equipment in either direction? Thanks, Todd.

It was very easy when I did it in 2007. I had a manifest like the pro series recommend but the agent ask if I was an amateur or not (easy answer!) and never even looked at anything other than our passports. On Re-entry I did have to open up the trailer to prove that I was bringing in what I said I was bringing in..but once they saw the car I was on my way.

Go do this event. It is that fun. Last year was a Double weekend I think. Twice the fun.

    Default gearing?

Would anyone give me an idea on gearing? It is a long tow from California but racing our neighbors upstairs in Montreal on American Racers during a Gran Prix weekend is just to good to pass up!

    Thanks!

    Default Simple version of gears

I used a 0.5 for first (9:31 RP) for the standing start and the hairpin. No more standing starts (Boo!) but the gear is right for the hairpin. 17:34 for instance

A 25:25 for 4th because of the long straight. Choose your best intermediates for equal spacing and you will not be far off

Just check that the rear tire is about 22.5" diameter. Not sure what the AR is

The email address for David Clubine above is wrong, it is:

    dclubine at sentex dot net

Sorry - David isn't the only person at BritWest - the 'L' email is looking after the tires for the series, so the address above was correct.

Here's the link for their website
    http://www.siteformulatour1600.com/

    Race 1 Pro

    Bonnet 1st
    Blok 2nd
    Schraenen 3rd

Great action at the front and throughout as always.
Top 4 cars (podium + Xavier Coupal) swapped the lead multiple times

Gillain and Sweeney were 2nd&3rd in the masters finishing order I believe.

    Default V

    1st Trent Hindman
    2nd Nathan Blok
    3rd Oliver Bonnet

A very wet track made for some slick conditions. Starting mid pack heading towards turn one I had zero visibility. I am very surprised we didn't have any accidents right off the start.

Somebody looped it right behind you Steve.
I'm pretty sure it was at the start, could have been 2nd lap though.
I'll know for sure when I get the video and pics downloaded after I dry out the memory card.
