    Post Service info

I'm doing regular service on FM.
    Oil change ,brake fluid,transmission.
What kind of transmission oil Most of FM guys recommend and how much does gearbox takes?
Also, on mine i have rev limiter installed and it maxes out at 6800 rpm.
That bugs and holds me back,i disconnected it from MSD unit and started the car .
Everything works( i wasn't revving too high in the garage)
Is that all i had to do ,just disconnect the sucker and it's all back to normal?
thank you in advance for any helpful info.

Default FM Forum search; it's a goldmine

Hey Maris, I would heartily recommend that you spend some time on the FM forum getting your "book-larnin" done.

Here's a couple of examples that I pulled up with search in seconds.

You'll learn that there are some indisputable gurus and then there's some opinionated hacks. So read the entire thread and then some. For example if you see Craig Taylor post about gear boxes, you can tattoo that on your arm.

As for the rev-limiter, you can run without it (you're doing track days and don't need to be "FM-legal", right?) But the motor will last longer with lower revs, so it'll cost you to rev higher. Probably not necessary while you're learning the car.

Mine ifs formula Russel body anyways ,so I'll modify it a bit and run with VARA
6'800 is low revs for 13B.
It can comfortably go to 7500.

Thank you for link all questions answered.

While you are at it, spend the 50 bucks and run the 48mm chokes.

    48 mm chokes?
    Explain please.....
Something restricting my fuel flow ,because of school car background?
Would definitely want to fix that.
Also i like a lot of things about that car but exhaust had to go.
I cut that ugly canister off and just left straight piece going trough rear suspension.
    Sounds much better now.
I hope it's not bad for rotary engine ,would work fine on inline or V8 .
    Please advise.

You have 44mm chokes in the carb right now and Weber makes 48mm chokes to allow more air. Not sure if it works but sure sounds like it should. Call Drummond and he will tell you how to light these things up.

Do a search on the FM forum; that very topic was just discussed about a year ago and Moses Smith explained a little about the design of the exhaust system. I don't have a good grasp of "tuning" but I think Mo implied the length of the system and that Borla muffler is part of tuning and not just a messy necessity for sound control.

As far as sound being something to worry, you will have to at some, if not most tracks. Typically for track day events and non-pro races, it's something like 103 dB. Most of us are right at 103 dB with the stock muffler and no supertrapp plates. So if you don't even have the muffler in place, you may be well above the sound limits for a particular track and you might get a black flag and have to fix it. If you don't have a muffler and a way to bolt it right on easily, you'll be sent home. Just sayin'.
