Thats not exactly a "barnfind". Bud Bennett does not give anything away. He probably sold those tubs for as much as he bought the complete cars for before parting them out.
Those old F5000 cars were scarey ..... for real men only!

    Default "Discovered"

Yeah, I think the term "discovered" is to be used loosely in this case. Certainly not a situation where Mr. Bennett didn't know what he had "sitting in the rafters"

While it has been a couple years since I have been, there is always some amazing hardware inside the walls of RM Motorsport. Nothing like strapping the belts on inside the cockpit of a Nissan GTP car, Chevy Spice, and a Lola T-70 all in the same day!

Could also be left overs from "re-tubbing" existing cars.

Looks like there is maybe one car in that pile. What do you guys think the good tub is worth? It can't be too much because last time I checked, a Lola T192 complete, was $35-50k, the big money goes for the faster T332 series. I might be interested in a nice T190 tub but it would have to be 10k or less, seeing as it needs 40-50k in parts to make a car. I assume Lola will sell you uprights for the T192, at a price...

Well I'll be diped. If you look at the second picture on that page of the chassis all lined up, that SAME SHOT but taken from the other end/other side is used as an advertisment in 'our' SOVREN "Vintage Drift" magazine that came out this month.

Eric Haga, the owner of the chassis lives here in Seattle and has them on the market "POR".

We don't have a 'lot' of F5000's in the SOVREN club. But I'll watch to see if any of these show up in the coming year. SOVREN is super-ultra picky about being period correct in ALL ways. So it may be tough to get these chassis up to snuff for their approval.

I know of at least five F5000 that race with us in Sovren. I would like to think that is fair amount of cars compared to other parts of the country. As for making them Sovren or any other vintage group apporved these where a "spec" class so just getting them back on the track would be a much larger task

    Cheveron Jackson
    Crossle Osborn
    Lola 142 Fintch
    Lola 192 Haga
    Lola 19? Manfred

    Other F5000 in our area
    Webster Armstrong
    Eisert Murray
    Forsgrini ?????

    Just the facts!

Facts are good. Tom. Five is a 'goodly' number but not real massive. But you may be correct in that many of the old F5000's were turned in to the 1980's Can-Am cars so no part of the country has a 'ton' of them.

One of these days I'll get the other Crossle 15F done and we'll have two in SOVREN.

Tim, I hope to see both Crossles on the track side-by-side someday. That would be a historic event. I'm sure there are some FF drivers that would be happy to help with your lack of drivers for the cars.

    Cheers,

Very astute observation, John. I have heard that there are a similar number of original T70 chassis in central Florida. Same kind of deal.

This from a friend who has had his original T70 re-tubbed.

The question is, which is worth more when put back together, the original or the re-tub?
