Will one be able to trailer his FF in to the local Honda dealer and get that spring replaced?

I wonder if the new "updated" spring will be GCR compliant?

Post lost motion spring - ?

Can one of you guys out there help me to understand this failure & the parts location & use in the engine ?

So What is a "Lost Motion Spring" in the valve train in a Honda Fit Engine ?

Is it the spring on the side of the rocker arm / cam follower shaft on the Over Head cam engine ?

Is it another way to say the valve return spring ?

I am not sure - any body out there know the answer to this one ?

" Honda said that “lost motion springs” within the engine’s valve train “may bend or break over time resulting in abnormal engine noise and potentially causing engine damage or stalling.”
Honda attributed the problem to “a lack of lubrication “where the lost motion spring retainer contacts the rocker arm.” In the worst case, Honda said, the engine could stall without the ability to restart."

Thanks guys.

Default Not sure it matters much for most SCCA racers

From the text: 'In November 2009, Honda changed the specification of the spring and continued to monitor the issue, according to the report. Last June, the automaker “observed an increase in claims for vehicles one year old or older”'

With the first HPD kits shipping in February or March 2010, I would assume most if not all HPD customers have the updated part. Might be an issue if you have an older 2009 junkyard engine though.
