    Default Rain tire ??

Please save me from digging thru the 6" deep pile of paperwork on my desk to find my printout of the FST rules, I'd like to know what the rules say about rain tires.

    TIA,

    Lance

Try this link. Go to Tech, then 2008 rules.

4.3. Any tires (brand, size, tread or construction) fitting the 13 x 6 rims may be used when the Chief Steward declares a rain race.

So... can we just go by Discount Tire and get some cheap Bridgestones if we want?

Yep. If they can get you 13s in a reasonable width for the 6 inch rim your golden.

Anyone that I know that has tried street tires for rains has been disappointed.
I would advise used rain race tires, even "scrap pile" condition, from FF or FC cars instead.

    Default Good advice

Used rains are the most economical. And I've been told some are available out there. One thing to think about is if you are planning on running the the Hoosier series and you'd like to get points, prizes and contingencies you must finish the race on Hoosier Tires. So used Hoosiers are what you want if you don't want to buy new ones.
