I volunteered last November to have my Honda Fit Formula F race engine put through a teardown inspection. My Honda engine had been trouble free other than a nagging fuel pressure issue that we solved mid-season. Overall I ran over 1,700 race miles with my Swift DB1-Honda in over 16 SCCA races producing 9 wins, many poles and way too much fun.
HPD dynoed the motor, tore it down, measured everything, reassembled the engine and dynoed it again. They produced a well documented report that was returned with the motor. Bottom line...the motor showed little to no wear. At this rate it should last many, many seasons.
The application of the Honda Fit engine in the Swift Formula F chassis has basically made it a turnkey race car. I put the right trans gears in, check the fluids, add fuel and drive like a fiend! I have a 10 page PDF copy of the report available but it's to large to download and attach to this thread. I'll contact Apex and see if they can post it.
UPDATE: Doug, of ApexSpeed fame, has the file and will post it on the forum ASAP. Stay tuned for details...
