JR2 qualified on the pole. John took off at the start in a rapid way.
But...
JR2's throttle cable attachment to the do-hickie on the carb came all haywire (technical explanation). John reported it was like driving a restricted Honda engine. So, he retired to pit lane.
John Benson went on to score a national win!
