AN HOSE

Folks,

Is Starlite or Kevlar hose a direct replacement for Aeroquip braided stainless? That is, will the composite hoses fit exactly into the AN ends that are currently mated to the usual braided stainless hose?

What, exactly is the wight saving... say, per linear foot for -10 AN -- Kevlar/Nomex vs Stainless? Anybody know... or is there a website that might have this info?

Lastly: Anybody know of any great senior citizen's deals on the composite hose? Mil surplus maybe?

Although this probably doesn't apply to an FB car, if you aren't aware of this, you may need to take it into consideration:

9.3.28. FUEL, OIL, AND WATER LINES
All fuel, oil, and water lines, including gauge and vent lines, that pass
into or through the driver/passenger compartment, shall be of steel tube
or metal braided hoses or bulkheaded. The driver shall not be exposed to
header tanks.

I use the starlite. It is significantly lighter and I use the same fittings. Hoerr offers it by the foot. Thx, Dave.

Chris, I believe that the hose ends are different, as the wall thickness is not the same as the braided hose. At least that is the case with some of the brands. With the correct ends, you can connect to the male AN fittings we've been using all along.

We can use the same Earl's Swivel-Seal or Autofit series hose ends that we use on their stainless braided, rubber hose, as we do with their Pro-lite 350 hose.
