    Default Wide-track for Lola

Thoughts on options for converting narrow track Lola T540 to wide track front suspension? Current overall widths are 63" rear and 57" front with 8 & 10 inch rims. This is now a B-modified solo car with bigger wheels/tires/engine.

I think I'd like the front width to match the rear, meaning 3" per side increase. Options would seem to be moving the chassis pivots out 3", making 3" longer a-arms or some combination. I'm guessing it would be best to locate the upper coilover pivot out 3" as well, to maintain the same angle and length.

I've been trying to call Pat Prince but so far haven't reached him. Meanwhile, I'm here to learn.

    Thanx, Bill

    Hi Bill
Lola did produce a T540E wide track version. You could try the Lola Heritage site to get more information. That may be your easiest option.

Here in Ontario there was a modification designed that moved the front top pick up points outboard by 3". This was done by fabricating a plate that was bolted and riveted to the chassis. The a arms were also modified to accommodate the new pick ups.

I have since modified this set up, moving the pick up's back in to 1 1/2" and making a new longer A arm to deal with roll centre movement and camber change.

    Default Wide-track Lola

It sounds like a good idea.
It worked well ( +2"/side) on the T-640.
