    Default FST at Lime Rock

George Podgorski is bringing the RGU BRD FST to lime Rock this Friday-Saturday. I’ll be there as crew as will Butch and Barbara Deer. We’d be glad to answer all questions and let you know about our ideas about expanding the Hoosier Tire Championship for next year.

Now if that weather forecast might be a tad better.

Timing is everything - If Butch had come last year he might have seen his old car almost win the NARRC Runoffs. As it is, not only is the car gathering dust in my garage, but I have commitments that will not let me even get near the track -

PS It would not be the NARRC Rainoffs....I mean Runoffs, without a little weather challenge!

    Default Report from Lime Rock

The weather at Lime Rock was exactly as forecast except the rain just continued Friday longer than the Weather service predicted. The track was so badly flooded that pumps needed to be brought in to merely salvage the PM qualification session. (Morning events were canceled). Even the PM qualification was announced late so we had no ability to put on any rain setup but George got in some decent laps in the rain and qualified between the vees and the club Fords.

Race day was much cooler but the sun came out and dried the track. The track wasn’t bad but you never wanted to get off into the still wet grass and puddles because you might never get back on track. With that in mind George decided to run moderately fast, and not push really hard. He got stuck behind a slowish 500 and we both decided that he should not attempt a pass even though he might have made it stick with faster potential lap times.

Long story short, it was an uneventful race. George lowered the FST Lap record 16 seconds. This record was a rain record so it was just waiting to be broken on a dry day. George ran a 58.8 I’ll send Bill the exact number for the official listing. I counted about 10 laps at 59 flat. We were happy. George felt that if a series race was at LRP the record would be in the high 56’s. I will be posting more about our plans for a NE series later on this month.

The best news from the weekend is that two people interested in conversions both made it to the track and were able to discuss their conversion plans with Butch and me. I think a couple more active cars will be added to the fray next year from the NE.

I want to thank Robert Guhde ( George Podgorski and the Deer's too!) for spending so much time speaking to me and the other Vees guys about FST. Pretty good chance you'll be seeing a Black Womer.. that was converted to a FST, that was then converted back to a Vee... finally converted back to a Formula First next year.
