    Default FF Runoffs Party

Mike Sauce mentioned in an earlier posting that we should try to get all the FF guys together for a BBQ at the Runoffs. We did this at the Glen and had a great time. If everyone is up for it, I can help organize it along with whoever wants else wants to be involved.

As far as when, I see two possibilities: before the race, maybe on Thursday evening (FF Q3 is early morning Thursday) or after the race on Friday. Since FF is last race of the day, most likely things with impound would not finish up until 7 PM at the earliest so I am not sure if that would work, unless we started things late, at 8 PM or so. Saturday would not work because I imagine lots of people are heading home on Saturday.

This would be open to all FF drivers, their crew, etc., plus any other open wheelers past or present who want to join.

If you are up for this let me know and also put in your 2 cents as to which day you think would be best.

    Thanks

    Tom Valet

Good timing on this post, as I've been planning on posting something on this for a while.

I would like to host the event our paddock space, in the very middle of the upper paddock area, as we have LOTS of room to spread out, as opposed to being held to the smaller assigned spaces, between trailers.

    spot #144 -UPPER PADDOCK
    http://www.roadamerica.com/Registrat...servation.aspx
Lots of extra room to the left, w/ no traffic to contend with, electric,
porta johns not too far away, and there's several FF guys in the neighborhood.

    We currently have:
    Charcoal and grill
    several long tables
a Keg of Spotted Cow Beer - http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/
    moms famous baked beans
    two palm trees

    We need:
    lots of Johnsonville Brats
    plates
    chairs
    other
    (Tom can help here,
    what else do we need?)

The event will be held on Tuesday pm, 6:00-6:30 start time,
We're off on Wednesday, so we can eat/drink/benchrace as late as we want.

We'll be off track at 4:00pm Tuesday, so no waiting around at the track all day for an event, and there is some time for prep/setdown afterwards, or just the leave the between rounds maintenance till the next day.

I would like to reiterate what Tom said,
This would be open to all FF drivers, their crew, etc., plus any other FF open wheelers past or present who want to join.

And special invitation to all the FF guys that are kinda of local in WI and ILL that aren't racing, but want to come join the fun for a night. If you're in Milwaukee, I expect to see you there, even if your FF didn't make the runoffs this year.

    Default Party

Tuesday is cool...we all should have not spent all of our money yet and with a Thursday Q3 still looming there would still be some hope for all for improvement. The lies would be great on what to do where for the perfect lap.

My buddy and crew guy (Rick Barger, a FFer) had a FF party back at MO Runoffs with smoked pork, cowboy beans and slaw. Siephenpiper (sp, Piper guy was a lot of fun)

One thing we started to do was have a checkered board photo backround and take candid shots of ff guys in front of it. the problem was we waited "too late" in the evening for it to be successful. I do believe I have a couple of good shots of the "Piper Guy" though. I still have my notes on motion ratios and the "sweet spot" Great fun.

I will check with Rick and see if he is game. We/he, I bought/he smoked 3 pork butts NC style. Low and slow.

NOW this is TIC no offense!!!! The Honda Guys should bring sushi...and yes i love that too.

Okay...good one...I'll be there, but I don't eat sushi. To be honest, my last couple trips to Brat country have been a disappointment, so I plan to bring some serious Italian sausage from NY....if that's ok and mabye a cook-off can break out.

FANTASTIC, (though I thought all great smoked meat came from south of mason/dixon)

Thanks Bob, We'll have plenty of table space to serve off of, and we have electric, if anybody
is bringing a Nesco or heating pan for serving out of

    Also,
I've got a monster size cooler that I'll be saving just for the Canadian stuff,
It doesn't take special Canadian ice does it eh?

I'm working on a list of things yet, I'll be posting some 'needs'

Sounds like a great get-together already.

Any thoughts on how we get a head count?

avg of 3 per car, 33x3=99 less 25% for those that forget/aren't fun/have other plans.
    = lots, any other guesses?

Is doing a 'roll call' here realistically accurate ?

    Five.

We have enough nuts in FF

    yes.

But seriously, I'll bring a couple bags of charcoal and a case of water.

For a head count, maybe 2 or 3 from my clan.

Count on four of us - we will bring Vermont cheddar cheese as my wife is pretty sure it trumps Wisconsin. You get one guess about where she was born and raised.

However, for me this ain't no party, this ain't no disco . . . I am going to be totally focused on trying not to finish last. What a field! Good grief. Will need to bring game face . . .

    Default Head Count

Count three from the Cincinnati gang. I will bring some Cincinnati version of the NY Italian called Chicago Hots. and some Cinciny brew. I will not have time for the BBQed butts for I will be lucky to have my own there. Besides it sound like the Canadaians have it covered. This sounds great. Last year I did not get to make the rounds to meet and greet. Oh ya I have a tailgate stash in the trailer of.. plastic sprokes and forks and plates. yes it has been tightly sealed in its own plastic container>

    Default Two More

John and I will be there. Someone may need to come by and remind us. Our homestead is down near turn 5. Neither of us can cook, but we can buy something for desert. Normal survival food for races is chocolate chip cookies. That do?

Default two girls and an FF dude

    Marc,

Add me, my wife and our daughter to your reservation list. I'm not bringing my Swift/Honda to the Runoffs but will be there the whole week to crew chief an SRF.

We'll have our RV there crammed full of camping goodies so I'll check-in with you to see what your short on and try and help were I can. Look forward to the "Spotted Cow", my all time favorite beer. Sure one keg is enough? I usually buy a couple of cases to bring home when I make it up to WI. Wish they distributed it out of state.

Look forward to seeing some other FF drivers. They don't come out and play much here in the Midwest...

About Us
Since 2000, ApexSpeed.com has been the go-to place for amateur road racing enthusiasts, bringing together a friendly community of racers, fans, and industry professionals. We're all about creating a space where people can connect, share knowledge, and exchange parts and vehicles, with a focus on specific race cars, classes, series, and events. Our community includes all major purpose-built road racing classes, like the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and various pro series across North America and beyond. At ApexSpeed, we're passionate about amateur motorsports and are dedicated to helping our community have fun and grow while creating lasting memories on and off the track.
