It was a great race. The track temps were much higher on Sunday and Russell seemed to come to grips with the conditions better than the rest of us. The track itself was very abrasive and saving tires was the order of the weekend. Knowing this we went out in Q1 with stickers and were lucky to get a good lap in early and then sit in the pits. The lap stood as the track was slower in Q2. As for the race, I got a good start and put a2 winged cars between myself and Forrest and Russ and was able to lead about 8 of the first 10 laps, Forrest led a couple in there while Russ was recovering from a bad start. I got a bit sloppy mid race and Russ got around. He opened up a tenth or two for each of the next several laps. At that point Forrest and I were in a great race for second that went right to the checker and all we could both do was watch Russ get further and further away. He drove a great race.
On another note, it was almost the weekend that wasn't for me, as I pulled a brainless move in P2 on Friday morning doing the left side corners, left engine cover and left body side fiberglass. Tom Sabiel got the corners together and lucky for both of us, his Dad, Tom,Sr. was there making a guest appearance and fiberglassed the body side back together. No way Tommy or myself would have gotten this done and still gotten back on track the same day. We did and the Tom's got the car right back to where it was before the wreck. We put fresh tires on and were able to pick up right where we left off only missing a couple sessions. Thanks guys.

Thanks Guys, I'll see you all in Sept. and hope to still be as happy with this engine as I am now. I've run 3 three races with the 29.0 plate since the Sprints and I'm convinced that the engine was a non-factor at both the Glen Double and BeaveRun. Adapting to the engines power band has been the key for the most part, both with gearing and driving style, has been a key in my mind to making this thing work. I was certainly able to race competitively with some pretty good Kents at both the Glen and BeaveRun passing and getting passed at both tracks. I can't wait to see if the progress I've made in the last few months will work in Sept. at RA. Now Mike.....about that tow.....

Reid, Maybe the "relocating" of his gear gearbox cover, was the added push Russ needed to come up to speed! It did cause him to look at some things while stuff was being repaired.
And, I know he will keep an eye on those Van-D rear A-arms from now on. so that won't happen again.

Great to hear about your pole and awesome results all season. I agree the 29mm restrictor has given us a great motor.

I haven't been able to give Honda a national pole but did luck out and give them their first National SCCA win last May 23rd at MAM. See the results here: http://www.midiv.org/Results/2010%20...ial%20Race.pdf The only other FF broke and the rest is history.

My first season in FF has been a lot of fun thanks mostly to the Honda powerplant that never let me down. In the end we ended up winning the SCCA Midwest Division FF Mid-Am championship.

I look forward to meeting you at the Runoffs and seeing the Honda's perform on a "real" track at the hands of experienced drivers.
