A 92-95 VD is a car capable of running competitively at SCCA regional events, which are amateur, non-paying events. There are other regional amateur organizations as well, and these are run-for-trophy as well.

This car would also be eligible to run in the ACC, a sub-series of the USFF2000. This is a paying series. But without some serious modifications, it would not be competitive, and I would not even want to hazard how much it might cost you to run an ACC season correctly, but certainly over $50k.

There was a small paying series for older cars based on the east coast that ran mostly ovals, but I think it is defunct now. At least I sure hope it's out of business, but that's another story...
If you want a paying series in that price range I would encourage you to check out some local oval-track action. E-mods are a relatively inexpensive car with great turnouts and lots of close racing action.
