Formula Continental is a class for F2000 cars, ex-Formula C cars, and old air-cooled Super Vees. So, all F2000 cars are FC cars, but not all FC cars are F2000 cars. The SCCA rulebook refers to them as F2000 cars, so it's not a pro vs. club thing.

Bingo, and for various reasons, we made the name change here to reflect the actual body of the class. Nationally, FC is predominantly made up of almost entirely F2000 cars. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen any events where FC wasn't made up of entirely F2000 cars.

We've actually had a couple of non-F2000 cars run in FC here in the northeast. At the last couple of Watkins Glen Nationals, there was what looks like an old Reynard with a motorcycle engine. I think it falls under the old Formula C rules. It's very fast in a straight line. We used to have what I think was an old air-cooled Super Vee show up at the Lime Rock Nationals as well. You're right, though. It's very rare that there is anything but F2000 cars in FC.
This is my take on it... The F2000 is the what the pro series is referred to as for our cars. FC is the "catch all" class for our cars at the SCCA club level. At the club level, we (as FC) could also be grouped with other orphaned formula cars that don't fall into other categories. Someone correct me...
