    Default Trouble Downshifting

I am having trouble downshifting my RFR GSXR-1000 after 2 or 3 laps, especially in left handers. It seems to be the same with or without the clutch. Does anyone else have this problem with the Suzuki box? Is there a solution or an alternative to square cut gears and dogs?

Dave, What type of shift linkage do you have? Most likely that is where your problem is.

After I adjusted the linkage on our silver RFR we never had an issue. You either have some binding or it is hung up on something. There are no aftermarket gear sets that are legal. Some thing is not adjusted right. Linkage or the clutch

My first guess is that the linkage is not returning to center. Perhaps something is slightly binding the linkage preventing the springs from returning the gear lever to center.

Default Funny you should mention that

At Rd Atl on Sunday, the last few laps of the race I was experiencing trouble downshifting going into T10A, which is the only corner on that track that requires multiple downchanges. The lever felt ok, but I have a feeling there is some bind.
I'm pretty sure you guys "customized" the shift linkage going back from the transverse bar, so that it would clear the header collector, and the transverse bar is not touching the header?

    +1 on what Brandon said.

When sitting with the car on stands, when you shift a gear, make sure that the lever returns to center with almost no resistance at all. If there is anything sticking/binding/etc, it'll make the shifting much worse.

Should be able to do all shifting with just veerrrry light pressure. I just nudge the lever with the heel of my hand most times.

The "problem" is not internal to the gear box.

    Default Binding problem.

Adjustment and layout path of cabling is so critical to have the most free frictionless range of travel.

    Definetly not a motor problem.

Go to an air shift paddle system.. No more problems. I thought david you had an electric shift system.
