    Default Cockpit surround

I'm pretty sure I've seen them in the current VD cars that are being raced in the series.

Are people using them or just tossing them aside and not worrying about them?

Are you not using it for fit?

Would you use one if it was made of an impact material just like the IRL cars?

Just seeing if it's worth my time to get a run of them made, not sure on cost.

Yeah, that's the problem with the cars right now. They aren't really well designed to fit a driver over 5'4" and still have all the room for a good seat pour and cockpit surround.

My thoughts are that the factory surrounds are really not much more than the equivalent of cheap two part foam and that a well built headrest/surround with materials specifically designed for impact absorption would be a step up in safety.

    Joe,

I use them and I know alot of other people use them as well. I would for sure be interested in them if they were made of better material.

    Let me know.

Does anyone have an extra one lying around that they aren't using?

I'm going under the assumption that the late model VD are all the same. If that's not the case I'd love to know which years are the same.

Im a big guy (6'2" and 185) and have worn these side bolsters. I find them to be very useful and well worth it.

    Default Citation

FWIW this is the surround for the new Citation which utilizes the bead material.

I was wondering what Citation was doing since they're not too far down the road from one of the bead material manufacturers.

    Thanks.
