For those that might want to try something other then SCCA in Arizona – ProAutoSports (PAS) has classes for everything from a novice in their street car, time trials for more advanced driver or car, full blown race cars and now even the Bondurant Series. Formula cars run in the “Yellow” group (Bondurant has their own run group), it’s a lot more casual then SCCA (more like Vintage racing) and if your car doesn't’t have a class they will find one for you (they put an air cooled Super Vee in the FC class, fits well). Also has a “Euro” FF and FC class that use a street tire to cut cost if you want. Usually run 4 sessions on Sat. & Sun. – Practice, Qualify, Qualify Race & Main event with Fri. being just a practice day (get an hour or so of track time each day). Car count is way higher then AZ SCCA, but all Formula cars run in one group (along with Legends and C/D sports racers, Radicals):

It’s not for everyone (super competitive may not fit, regional only), tech is pretty much up to you, corner / safety worker count is lower, but we have a blast and contact / safety issues have been minimal. If you're in Arizona check it out! New to formula car racing? No reason to wait for a once a year school, PAS will work with you at any event to get you licensed. Most events are held at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, use all three tracks (Main, East & West).

ProAutoSports update for 2010 – Two new courses are planned: Inde Motorsports Ranch – a 2.75 mi. 18 turn track east of Tucson and a combined Firebird Main and Bondurant course that should be about 2.5 mi. long. A total of 10 races scheduled for 2010. See link for full schedule.
