Default FB Roll Call - Road Atlanta March 19-21

    A few cars entered: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...36E2A1D8B4988B

    Go, Jerry! :-).

I don't think Ben Cooper is ready to race yet in 2010, but I'm looking forward to seeing his updated bodywork.

Brandon put the bug in my ear about going and helping the national FB numbers, but just way too much to do in 10 days to have my car ready.

I'll be there, but just to spectate/crew/cheer & drink beer.

McLaughlin said they would be coming and Tom Schweitz should run his first race with his new car there. Should be 5 entries at least.

I have seen Niki at this race in his continental in the past, any chance he wants to come down again?

If I don't get dragged down to Sebring I'll be there to watch with envy. I'm working on getting my car out soon. I'll post some pics when there's more to look at and the new motor is in.

My car is still in 100 pieces. Really wishing I could be there.

Looks like Schweitz is going to have to work and won't make it. One more reason you won't catch me doing that.

Forecast is for rain all day Sunday it looks like. Ugh.

The eight letter word right in the center of that picture says a ton.

I heard someone at the track today describe Brandon and his team as 'relentless'. Very true. Those guys are constantly working to make that car faster. Brandon is obviously driving well, and his team is being rewarded for their work.

Sunday's race will be very interesting if the wet weather conditions toss in a big variable. I'm sure they'll all deal with it well. We'll see who comes up with the best combo. I wouldn't be surprised if the FB cars come out ahead of other (fat tire) classes if it's raining.

    Good luck to all.

Default Few Road Atlanta Photos - FB

    SAT - sunny, beautiful
SUN - ugly, cool, moderate to heavy rain

My apologies to my very good friend Glenn Cooper for the lack of race pix. Seems a competitor opt'ed to take Glenn out

I'll let you the viewers figure out what day the photos were snapped

    Default After loading up

and seeing car after car coming in on the hook, some of them with one corner remaining, I felt extremely fortunate to have suffered relatively minor damage in the ass packin' incident in T10 on lap 3.
I was going around Mucha on the brakes into 10, thru spray so heavy as to be unbelievable. As I came out of the mist, I couldn't avoid an FM going about 20 mph.

Initial damage report looks like a nose cone, nose box, steering rack, FARB.
Wing flaps, end fences, main plane, and damper cvr might be able to be repaired.

Will be in VIR, better than ever!

Congrats to the McLaughlin Motorsports crew who have suffered some incredibly unfortunate "luck" this year, ie Homestead being taken out in a big way in T1, race 1, and RRR two weeks back w/ a broken chain on the start.

Good on you guys for hanging in there... and .

It was ugly to say the least, and thats a view from the pits! Worst incident waas BIG and involved Keith Grant/FA and Jacek Mucha/CSR. Based on eyewitness remark Grant was coming up to lap Mucha on the very fast back straight, with Mucha possibly letting up a bit. Result was Grant rear-ending Mucha who in turn did several flips/rolls, destroying his CSR. Grant backed into the berm quite hard. Decision was made at that time to checker the race with the results reverting to the last completed lap - #16. Thus Grant won overall and Mucha 1st in CSR. Fortunately both drivers were OK.

I'll wait for my good friend Cooper to do his chronicle on the incident that ended his day.

More thoughts later, but here is an iphone picture of Jacek's car. It took 3 trucks to bring back all of the parts.

He was out of medical before impound was over. He said he felt fine.

It took about 30 minutes for them to clear all of the wrecked/stuck cars off of the track. Congratulations to McLaughlin.
