    Default Race Day

    Hi gang,

The stage is set for quite a race on Sunday afternoon. The battle between Niki Coello, J.R. Osborne and Phil DeLaO is sure to be very exiting and with Jeremy Hill, Glenn Cooper and Brandon Dixon not far behind, I for one and looking forward to the third edition of the F1000 Championship race.

    Cheers,
I believe that the race is today, not Sunday

Thanks Richard...I am listening to Greg Kramer (sp?) on goracingtv's streaming audio, and it's nearly as good as watching it on TV. If you are just hanging out, give it a listen. You can even surf uninterrupted while listening, and the FB race is next!

Congratulations to Dustin and Phil with the Phoenix! Second place for a 16 year old driving a full-size car for the first time is really a testament to the talent both of them possess. Dustin has put together a great car and to get 2nd against that field is very impressive.

    Congrats to the Phoenix team!!!

I will second the post from "notkoston"

A very impressive debut from Phil De La O and a testament to how good the Phoenix F1000 (and crew) is. Phil's record in karts is very good, but this is an outstanding result for a 16 year old who's only been in a full-size car a handful of times.

What a GREAT race to watch.

Shame the "FS" (FA) was there as that car created a gap between P1 & 2 in Fb that the 3 guys fighting for 2nd could not overcome.

    Overall impressions:

The Stohr looks absolutely terrific with the new bodywork (JR).
JR & Coop (novak conversion) displayed amazing car control skills.

It may be that the new Phoenix is the car to beat. Phil looked like he was very skilled but in traffic you could see the vetrans take over (JR & Coop). Makes me wonder how good the Phoenix really is...

In any event, after Niki checked out the battle for 2nd, 3 different cars, VERY close. Could have been anyone of them in P2, 3 and 4 at the end.

Brandon Dixon (Citation) was catching that pack.... and I believe Hill was right behind him.

I was helping out at an Eagle scout project all day so I missed the coverage. Seemed like it was an exciting race. Can't wait to see the video broadcast of it. Is the new Stohr an all new tub, or updated parts on the same tub?

    Default Congrats

This was rough week for me, being sidelined 2000 miles away with a broken trans. in the transporter...sucks

Congrats to Coello, De La O; It's nice to see young talent coming into FB....reminds me of FF back in the 80's.

What was most impressive was Brandon Dixon posting the 3rd fastest race lap after tearing one side of the car off the day before....this type of adversity brings out the best in people and Brandon overcame this....most impressive.

Hopefully De La O will stay on with Phoenix for this coming season which for us starts in about 5 weeks. I look forward to doing battle with him.

If anyone attending the event has some quality photos of the ARRC FB Class FB race, I would appreciate getting a hold of some so I may add them to our F1000 Owner/Drivers website.

Hopefully Purple Frog and Mrs. Frog can supply some photos for the site.

It was a great race to listen to via the internet audio link. It must have been EXTREMELY exciting to be in the race itself.

Great driving to all the Class FB drivers. WOW it was exciting.

What a race. Perfect weather. One of the US's best tracks. A spectatular FB field. The race for P2, P3, P4 kept everyone on their feet until the checker.

We have a few thousand pix. I haven't had time to go through the files and find the good ones. But here is a taste.

Niki. Well, Niki is Niki. We only need say Niki, and you know who we are talking about.

Coop gets the Year long Championship win, and his race after about lap 10 was spectacular. What a great battle with JRO.

I was pleased to see that the Piper FB re-emerged to enter the ARRC, but don't know Lewis Cooper Jr. Can anyone tell me if he bought the car, and so we'll see it more often, or if this was a one-time rental. TIA! Stan

    Don said he purchased it.

I'm going to stand behind my 1st comments after watching the video... (notice the wing at the end of the clip... it's just along for the ride!)

Looks like Phil was loosing time in turns 3, 5, and the 10's....

Sean's right....Looks like De La O got chopped by JR in 10A and broke the front wing pretty badly late in the going...makes Phil's drive even more impressive.

Don said Lewis bought but intends to put an FB-illegal DSR engine in it with the sole goal of claiming the lap record at Waterford Hills.

I was told (2nd hand) that Phil did NOT come out of shifter karts. That makes his performance even more impressive. I think we'll hear that name more in the future.

Good "stuff"ing going on in that vid!
I only hope and pray that the Chase Cam mounted to my car for Goracingtv.com worked the whole distance (fingers crossed), cause if id did, ya'll are gonna be treated to some intense racing action!

Yeah, that was obvious to those who knew but fun none the less. Good commentary though. You guys held your own pretty well with Creamer.

    Hi gang,

Glad you enjoyed the footage from my on-board camera on DeLaO's car.

Couple quick things to pass on.

Yes, Cooper Jr. purchased the Piper. The primary reason is to give him something with some good pop and wings to run at Waterford Hills, as he finds his Swift 014.a Atlantic car is a little to big for his home track. I had not heard about an engine change, as I think he was still planning on doing a couple more FB races.

Phil DeLaO, is the reigning 2008 eKartingNews.com Junior Driver of the Year. The ARRC was his third-ever race, having done two Bondurant Championship races in Arizona thus far. In speaking with him and his dad, the current plan is to do a full-season karting next year, moving up to the senior ranks, a good number of FB races with Dustin Wright's Phoenix squad, as well as assorted other races as they fit in the schedule, including Bondurant Championship races and Formula Ford, likely up in Canada. The DeLaO gang is well aware that as a 16-year just starting out, seat time is everything, so they want him racing as much as possible.

    Cheers,
    Allan Craighead

After watching the in-car footage from the Phoenix I really have to hand it to Phil and Dustin. With a front wing the whole race they might have brought home the top spot since they were making up ground on Coello until the contact. Luckily they didn't lose too much speed in the corners and were still pulling hard on the straights.

Not to knock Phil's driving, but it makes you wonder if Jaremko was there with a bit more experience in a full-size car in traffic if he might have avoided contact or negotiated traffic a bit better. Same goes for a split start. Either way, great race by the Phoenix team and everyone else that made the long trip for the best race of the season!
