Atta boy. I would never want to see anybody kept from their dreams. Good luck with the new ride. Maybe you could post a little report of your first experience or impressions of the new car.

Unfortunately, I do not think we will make it this year. We made it two years in a row, still working on it, but not looking likely.
I wish everyone good luck and great racing.

Does anyone know when the track will be open for testing before the race weekend?
Butch will probably clarify or confirm, but there is a test day Thursday, 11/5. I'm pretty sure they will begin letting people in some time late Wednesday afternoon. The specific time may depend on what is going on at the track on Wednesday.

Thanks Russ, we'll see you there. I'm bringing the LSR2 down for a test (Aussy customer) and for Jean Luc to drive (ASR) in the race. Clark
Yes, there is a track-sanctioned Test Day on Thursday. Probably $225 for the full day and pro-rated based on how many sessions are left when you sign up.
I don't know the details on move-in time on Wednesday night (I'll check with them after the Petit), but generally we figure on them opening the gates at 5:00.

According to the ARRC website we are in the Pro Paddock (inside) this year.
The whole thing is flat and smooth, which will much better suit or very low ground clearance cars.
For a preview of what this looks like, turn on SPEED Channel right now for Petit Le Mans coverage.
Better hurry up though, they're liable to interupt with a bonus episode of Wrecked!
Actually they have some of those somewhat elaborate toilet trailers in the paddock, AND a permanent facility at "mid-level" going up the hill exit road.
Showers are gonna need to take a hike across the bridge to the support paddock...
GC
Word at the Runoffs is that Niki Coello will be bringing the Firman F1000 to the ARRC.
Yeah, that's the word, and it looks like there may be up to 3 or 4 RFR's @ the ARRC. We might just end up with the deepest F Thou field yet...
GC
Are any Stohrs racing (besides the factory car)?
I just bought one but it has not delivered yet - still at the factory in Portland - and I would love to crew for a Stohr team. Plus I am close to buying a trailer in Atlanta, so the opportunity to crew would really make the trip worthwhile.
Ivin
I'm sure there will be several Stohrs there.
Along with more than a couple current and past National Champions...
This should be a good one!
So, here's what the tally looks like so far:
confirmed (bold=registered):
David Burkett-Firman
Jerry Freeman-JF-1
Russ McBride-VD
Steve Oseth-Firman
Brandon Dixon-Citation
Niki Coello- Firman
Jason Slahor- VD-Novak
Glenn Cooper- VD-Novak
Bill McLaughlin Jr-Firman
JR Osborne- Stohr
Jeremy Hill- Photon
Chris McNitt- Stohr
Lewis Cooper Jr-Piper
Phil De La O- Phoenix
Gary Hickman-Edge
Phil (Misterkris?)- Firman
possible entries in need of peer pressure:
Ben Cooper-Elan
Chris Waterman-Speads
Brett Lane- VD-Novak
Nick Belling- Firman
Tom Beattie-Elan
Mike Beauchamp- VD
For those keeping score at home, that field is the largest F1000 field in history and includes 3 multiple national championship winners, with 10 national championships among them.
Am I missing anyone?
I'm putting the finishing touches on the prize money distribution but suffice to say that it's over $5,000!

mike, you forgot a major player on the list of people in need of peer pressure... mike beauchamp!!!! , how can we help? regards, jeremy
Jeremy you are correct.... I fixed his post

It'll take more than peer pressure. What I would need, in no particular order:
- A job
- money
- a tow vehicle
- some extra talent
- my car reassembled
At this point, I plan to be there as a spectator and to hand out some money and prizes. Maybe I'll be in a better position to compete next year.
Truth be told, it's a good thing for the guy in charge of the prizes not to be in the race. I remember the 1st ARRC (for FB) and all of the work Mike, Russ, myself and others put into the contingency package, then trying to organize everything and race myself.... it was not easy.

Mike, I was all set to defend you, to tell people to lay off, because everyone knows you want to be at the ARRC with your car.
And then I remembered it was you applying the peer pressure for people to come even if they have reasons not to.
Live by the sword, die by it. :-).

Actually, Russ, in my weakened mental condition, I could succumb to the peer pressure. It would be a monumental effort and would deplete the budget for next year, but this will be a big race.
However, as Sean said, with the F1000 Championship coming to a close, it's probably best I'm not driving.
Or is it?
Mike, I'd like it if you were able to bring your car down and race it this year. It would help me move up in the finishing order because I can easily beat you.
(How's THAT for peer pressure! :-)

Something for our group to think about:
Butch is offering a short "fun" race format in place of the second qualifying session.
See: http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/show...59&postcount=6
Sounds like it will only happen if a majority of the FB guys (strike that. Probably whole group - open wheel/sports races) wanted it (via signed petition).

Unfortunately, I will have to be removed from the "confirmed" entry list and added to the "possible entries in need of money" list.
I have had a few unexpected racing expenses in the last couple of months that have used up the money I had set aside to attend the ARRC . I need to refill the checking account so I can suppport the class participation numbers next year starting with the Quad Winter Nationals - just a few months away.
But, if I get some unexpected income between now and the ARRC....I'll be there.

I'm on pole position (provisional). Is there something about the VD 281's that make them so costly to run? That's the car that drove Ben Cooper into bankruptcy, too, isn't it? :-).
Sorry we wont see your car at the ARRC, but I look forward to seeing it and you at SE races in '10.

I think loosing a job and helping start our own company may have been more of a reason. I've just sold my house and moved (what a pain in the a$$) which should free up some cash in the off season along with a mortgage that's less than a 1/4 of what it was (and it wasn't that much to start with) I should be good.
If I can stand to be there I will!

Dammit, between the two of you, it got me to thinking. I could probably get the car ready in time and I could probably scrounge some decent tires and I could probably put the entry and fuel on credit card. Just need to figure out how to get the car down there.
A battle for second to last?
This peer pressure is awful!
Crap. Called my bluff.
I guess I'd better pull out the Crow Pie recipe just in case ...
If you can get your car down here that will be great, even if it does push me further down the grid.
I know you've done a lot of changes to your car since I last saw it, and I'd like to see them.
Good luck working it out. Let us know how we can help. The F1000 community would like to return the many favors you've done for the class.

Just for the record, I have a lock on last place. If that helps motivate anyone. You won't be last.
Jerry
Jerry,
If you can make it to the finish, you won't be last. There will be a DNF's. A running car at the finish always counts for something. Especially a Homebuilt!! A victory sometimes has different meaning.
Jerry:
You do not need to minimalize the efforts you have made and the successes you have had!
You are on the right side of the fence when you are on the track -- and that is the definition of success!
I'm still on the wrong side of the fence, but am slowly working to get up to your level.
Rick
Yeah im not totally confirmed. I have a couple obstacles to overcome. But it looks pretty good.
Cant believe some of you guys local to the track are trying to back out, Im looking at close to 25 hours of driving for this and many others are coming from further away. Cmon now.
Registration is at eight drivers. See post #54 for current list.
Is PIPER not going to defend its honor? Can't they find a Schue?
Regrets - I will not be attending. A court committment takes precedence.
It sounds like this ARRC is shaping up to be another fine event. You guys in FB just keep gaining momentum. It's times like now I wish I had an FB to play with.
There are a few fine FB cars available to rent.
But, I dunno, Jason. They're kinda tough to drive. It's not like you have 240 HP, acres of contact patches and tunnels sucking the car to the track. :-).
Just kidding, of course. Thanks for the props. We know we've got a pretty special class here, and it's cool being part of its early years. These superbike-powered, 6 speed lightweight cars are a hoot. I can't wait to be flying around Rd Atlanta in a few short weeks, and I can't wait to see all the cars paddocked together and hang with the drivers & builders.
It's cold in Atlanta this weekend. Maybe that's a good sign, and we'll time the Indian Summer weather perfectly.
