    Default 40th Personal Photos

I thought that I'd start a thread that featured our personal photos. The first is of my car (VD RF80 #01) and the lovely and talented Cathie (Mrs. D) who took all the photos. She prefers to take pictures that capture the flavor of the track along with the cars.

After uploading you still have to add them to your post. Uploading puts them into your ApexSpeed Online "library".

Hi Frank...My wife thanks you for the complement. She has no formal training, just the natural eye. She uses a digital camera that she got for little more than $200 a couple of years ago. I'm the one with an art school background and I let her take all the shots. I've offered to get her a good digital SLR with extra lenses, etc. No deal.

    Don

p.s. She refers to them as 'artsy-fartsy' shots.

    Default 40th

    Hello Don.

I want to tell everyone who reads this site, and has never met you, or your wife, that you are two of the nicest, and most gracious people I have ever met.

When Don and Cathie offered their spare room the week before the 40th, a place to stay was the only piece of the puzzle left to be able to allow Jonathon to do his first race weekend. When I say I got lucky, it is an understatement. They opened their arms and took us in like we were part of their family, at the track and back at the condo, and showed incredible hospitality to two total stranges. They deserve the biggest THANK YOU I know how to give. Don, you made a memory happen for a boy that will last him the rest of his life.

    Thank you.
    Jon

I updated the Ferret Industries archival website with pics from the 40th.

The site documents the history of the Canadian built car through period pictures, documentation and race articles. Ownership of the 4 chassis is chronicled from the time they were built to cover every subsequent owner and highlights of their career as a Ferret driver.

The Main page is here: www.ferretindustries.ca

The Photo Section is here, the 40th gallery is near the bottom: Photo Gallery

    Some samples

    Thanks for looking.

    Jonathan

Default What's wrong with this pic?

As my buddy said, "what's wrong with this picture?!?!? I'll TELL you what's wrong, a guy driving backwards is kicking your ass! THAT'S WHAT'S WRONG!"

I believe it's Lee Lloyd in the white DB-1. (I'm in the Blue/Green/Black SE-1) Hope he didn't do too much damage to his car, I heard he hit the wall on the outside.

Photo by Ethan Mackey. If Ethan learns to drive as quick as his shutter finger goes, we're all in trouble!

    Mike,
R.K. Smith is in the DB-ONE, the original swift, on pole here. Bob Lobenberg is beside him, waving from the black Viking. I assume Tony Kester is in the other car, on the outside of row one. John Robinson is bringing up the rear in the red DB-6. In between, someone else will have to fill in.
Hope you are back on your feet, and maybe back on wheels soon, if the car doesn't sell.

Here's a few more: Behind Bob Lobenberg in the #1 car is Keith Nunes. Next to Keith is last years champ Chris Keller. Next to John Robinson in the orange Piper is Tom Schweitz.

What to do? Come to the S.I.C. and 'wrench' for me, of course! [That basically involves eating and watching racing, by the way.]. On the other hand, I can see where it would be hard to be at a racetrack without being able to race. But, if you feel like it, there's allways a chair under the awning for friends. Jim

Eating, and watching...That's what my "wrenches" always seem to do. (Just kidding, John). Thanks for the invitation. Never know where I might pop up.

01 was Dennis Firerstone. We stuck him in a Swift after Neil's Crossle took a dump.
