Lots of talk last weekend at Summit Point F2000 weekend regarding yellows, full course yellows and pace/safety cars.
    Long story:
I ran the Sprints in '82 or '83. A Skip Barber customer had both a Lola T640 and a Crossle 50F.
As I was gainfully employed by one Skip Barber, then the US importer for Crossle, I thought it prudent to drive the Crossle when given my choice, even though testing at RA had shown the Lola considerably faster.
Qualified the 50F in or around 10th, maybe 12th, in a huge field. I seem to remember the entries were about the same as the year, so low 80's.
I remember clear as day Kester doing the huge slipstreaming dive bomb into 5 on lap one, got the lead, for about 10 yards, before spinning with this giant field bearing down on him.
    No one hit him.
Anyway, by the end of the race every corner hosted several FF's in various states of disrepair.
And yet, not a single full course or pace car lap.
    Why ?
Because everyone respected the yellow flags and realized if the went off and hit an already parked car they would be idiots.
Well, that and the fact that RA had not gone into the beach business.
The gravel traps are absolutely the worst, Turns 1,3,5, 6, 8, 12 and 14 will snag a little open wheel car in a second and require extrication.
In the early '80's brave corner workers would try to get cars into a relatively safe location under "protection" of waving yellows and the race continued.
I know I am a dinosauer but man do I HATE gravel traps.
They absolutely ruin the racing, no more skating around in the grass and re-entering, just full stop and call the wrecker to get out.
    Bah, humbug......

Didn't a blue car win CFF?

Very nice race with Jeremy and Niki in the beautiful Bardell Tiga, but Jeremy Treadway was holding the checkered on the victory lap.

Do'h!! Technical DNF for Treadway after the finish! Guess an orange car won it after all.
