Story:
Absolutly the worst start of a race I have ever been in. The starter should have his/her green flag taken away from them and never be allowed to hold one again. I started 5th and before the green even flew, 5 cars passed me and we were 5 wide as the green came out. I figured that there was no way the green was going to fly and never went to the throttle. Well,...It did and I crossed the start line in 12th. I spent the rest of the race getting back bye guys that spend more time blocking than trying to run a clean race and maybe following someone quicker than themselves and actually learning something. I would never mention names here. You know who you are. Get your heads out of your a$$'s
Credit goes out to Steve Maxwell for starting the race with a broken (and removed) rear sway bar and man handling it to a second place finish.

Does anyone know why the race was checkered one lap early?
[[/QUOTE]quote=Brian Holtz;219229]Does anyone know why the race was checkered one lap early?
Brian, There was a car stoped in the middle of the track just past T12 ? (left hander after heal of the boot) it was not a problem to get around and could have been left there for one more lap which I could have used!
My question is why was group 3 Q1 shorted 5 minutes?

The green flag was VERY early and it appeared a few cars in the front weren't expecting it that early. I got into the care in front of me and had to slam the brakes. It would have made a lot sense to wait for a LOT more cars in the group to get onto the straight before going green, but if anyone had watched the starts in 1 & 2 (split start), all three greens prior to ours had been that early. So it appeared that it was by design on the part of the stewards, the bigger question is WHY?
Thanks for the kind words Mike A. Man handling is what it was. Wow it was a hand full. Yes the flag was very early and caught everyone out. But like Scanlan said that was the scenario of the previous races. Knowing is helpful....
Most guys with crew appear to have them. I don't usually have them installed but will put them in for events with large fields and I may not be close enough to the front to see the flag. Also only if my dad is there to spot for me.
What is the over/under by corner number where the 40th Group 6 National will start for me? I'm betting 12. But we can race once we hear or see green, right?

Mike - I felt your pain. 2 out of the 4 cars I passed were deliberately blocking. One not leaving race room (driving all way to apex) when I was substaintially inside on several corners and one went right and then immediately left as I tried both sides. The last move left almost put both of us in the guard rail as I was under full throttle for the pass!
Outside of those issues the race was a lot of fun with lots of passing and drafting.
I had brake bias issues first couple of laps otherwise I would have been able to tie the tow rope on the back of your car when you went by. Would have been fun to get closer tot he front then I did. Oh well, need more practice
Keep the faith!
