Great stuff, Mark. Beautiful car!
Thanks Doug.
Good luck with the DB1 sale, I would love have one... someday!
great looking car Mark...can someone tell me why these cars are not raced on slicks as they were from late 72 on?
Wow, sweet looking car, Mark. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend!
Provamo:
I can tell you why this one will not be on slicks.

This is not a negative comment but the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts is just about the most anal retentive club in the world in terms of cars being 'period correct' including all mechanicals. At the moment, cars have to be older then 1969 with the a few exceptions. Formula cars to 1972 plus, an open "Exhibition Class" up to about 1979 for cars with a NOTABLE history on a select basis. One of those 'select' cars is Jackie Stewarts 006 Tyrrell !
If FF didn't convert to slicks until late 1972 then you won't see a 1970 FF on slicks in SOVREN. Let not your heart be troubled. SOVREN has a gaggle of ultra-fine FF's all running on treads and they put on a great show.

You can run a car like that on slicks any time you want, you just have to enter the right race. That would be an SCCA Club Ford event, for example. The treaded Dunlop is the de facto standard for organized vintage racing, so it's simply a spec tire thing. The tire suits older formula fords better than slicks, it's taller, the geometry works right, it responds to softer suspension, it lasts a very long time with a vintage setup, so it's a good deal. But if you want to run a car on slicks, there are lots of places to do so. Mind you, to run the modern tires you also have to bring the car up to modern safety standards.

Thanks all. I picked up the car yesterday in Portland - fresh off the dyno, spent the night in Centralia, WA and will be at the track around noon today.
The paddock is a cluster. But I cruised around after IROE was finished and didn't see you Will look tomorrow.
What's IROE you say? International Race of Executives!
Phil Smart MB dealer brings out 10 brand spanking new Mercedes Benz's to the track every year. Then 10 local "E" Executives make a considerable donation to Children's Hospital and enjoy a day with instructors such as - Dominic Dobson, Parker Johnstone, Ross Bentley and Don Kitch Jr. (did LeMans last month heading TEAM SEATTLE) along with some of his Proformance racing school staff to fill out the cars. Children's Hospital gets the donation and the drivers have one heck of a day high speed lapping in MB's rotating instructors! Great kick off to a weekend of Historic's racing for the benefit of a worthy charity.
P.S.
Team Seattle raised over $250,000 for Children's Hospital with their LeMans effort coming in 30th over all and 9th in class doing 300 laps. One of the 3 drivers was Patrick Dempsey.
