    Default Problemchild goes Mysterian!

Once I saw the new Mysterian FST car, I knew I wanted one!

I ran out of time to make the switch, but I am working towards converting the Problemchild to full Mysterian specs for 2010. In the meantime, I will run the car as a Mysterian hybrid.

With the demise of the FCM FST Series, I will be selecting races with reasonable travel distances. Hopefully, I can make two rounds (4 races) of the Bonow Series, including Grattan this weekend. If you see this car at the track, stop by and pick up a Fox40 whistle.

Thanks to my usual sponsors, suppliers, and tech partners.
Fox40 USA, Autowerks, Vallis Motorsports, Circuit Motorsports, Sugar Grove Custom Cars

    Cheers!

    Congratulations Child!

Although we are still in FC, I'm a real flag waver for FST being the ideal balance between performance, cost and FUN. Wish you and the class real success!

    P.S.
Don't you need a piece of vinyl with an F an S and a T on there in Hot Pink of course

Looking good, PC. What "Extends" the beam width to widen the front track? Maybe you could get sponsorship from Extends (the male enhancer)

I am not sure I understand the question. Everything in the front beam assembly is standard VW (or clone) components. The only track affecting adjustment is wheels and spacers. If you increase your track to the maximum, you gain alot of scrub. I hope my revised steering geometry manages that to some degree.

    Thanks!

Your car looks good Greg. A few more Mysterians get built and they will start to rival the Evolution numbers.

    See you at Gratten.

    Jim,
Yes, it sounds like there will be four at Grattan, all different versions .... M5, M5.1, M2, and my SM2

Probably an optical illusion in the first pic, or that I am used to looking at vees from the front with the narrow tires.

hmmmm, that's MY car number! But since I'm still in FV and not FST I suppose I'll let it slide.

What division are you in? If I convert to FST for 2010 I'd still like to keep 13 (CenDiv here)

    Very nice looking car btw

That's ok - if you are in NY then I don't htink you're CenDiv anyway.

My primary color scheme is purple - why? Because it's my granddaughter's favorite color and she pretty much has me wrapped around her pinky finger.

    Default Mysterians at Grattan

The official Bonow Series promo rarely covers people that don't drive cars of certain manufacture, but I will report that there were three Mysterian FST cars present at Grattan, all with Autowerks power. It was an uphill battle, as we had raced a total of 3 previous events between the 3 cars. My car had different front and rear suspension packages that I had never used before, and was only about 90% finished when I got to the track.
Doug Seim finished third in Sunday's race after having mechanical issues on Saturday. Doug drives the blue RGU Mysterian and was running in the front group before his problems.
Jared Timmerman was doing his 2nd SCCA event in the yellow #55 Mysterian and finished 6th on Sunday and 7th on Saturday. Jared improved about 4 seconds per lap over the weekend.

My black Fox40 Mysterian was a handful. I spent time in the Grattan barn making new parts and generally worked my butt off. We salvaged 3rd on Saturday but found some more pace for Sunday, leading more than half of the laps in Sundays race before the incident with half a lap remaining.

There is some trackside video posted here:

Viewer discretion is advised as it may be offensive to those without a consience.

My personal congratulations must be extended to Carl Middelegge who has become the man to beat. Not only does he have impressive speed, but he drives like a gentleman, and shows honor off and on the track. Way to go Carl!

Seems to have been pretty fair reporting to me, Greg. What's the gripe?

????? To the contrary! This forum and others have been filled will pictures and comments on your car, Jim Nash's car and the Mysterians. (and unbiased reports of all the races.)

In regards to the video.. The comments re: the F500 car do not match what everyone actually saw. (and the video didn't even show the incident).

Re: your incident. I didn't see it, but again your comments do not match what was claimed by witnesses. (and again the video did not show it.) The stewards of the meet also felt the same way.

Not sure of why you even posted the video. It doesn't compare to a Zeb Magruder film at all.

You did a pretty good job out there, but you can't win them all.
