Per Dave Gomberg's (CRB member) posting on the eformulacarnews forum, we have two weeks to get our emails in about the MC proposal or forever hold your peace.

Anyone not in favor had better send their letters now and don't whine later if it goes through. You had your chance.

From what I have heard of what was said at the June Sprints, the CRB is tabling the MC proposal until track and dyno data can be analyzed so that the right size IIR can be included in the ruleset. If I am wrong, CRB, then please post the correct information.
If we don't give them enough track and dyno data soon enough the CRB will not approve the proposal in time for it to be included in the F500 class rules for 2010.
Clint & Dan McMahan are thrashing on one car to get it ready for the Road Atlanta regional July 18/19. Jay Novak has promised to get dyno data done asap and finish one car to start running very soon in his neck of the woods. I hope that there are others who are about to run the MC cars very soon - please have T&S keep a separate track of your lap times for the entire event and have Tech weigh your car & document it after every session; include all of these documents when you send them to the CRB.

My opinion is that the ruleset could have been approved about a month ago with a IIR size "to be determined" and still have plenty of time to determine the IIR size in time for the start of the 2010 (changing the IIR's should not take very long to do). My suspicion is that the CRB has been unduly influenced by some opponents of the MC proposal to delay as long as possible this proposal even though rumor is out that the CRB has received positive support at more than double the negative input. By not approving the MC proposal now, I am afraid that the CRB has unwittingly/unintentionally hurt the participation numbers for the F500 class for 2010 to the point where F500 may not qualify for the Runoffs. This is against one of the prime directives of the club - "increase car counts".

I am sure that there are others here who may know more than I do.

Perhaps the CRB was "influenced" by the many NON-F500 cars owners that wrote in to support the change. To paraphrase the line of an old song ...where have all the MC-F500s gone?....

    Default MC motor

My understanding is the advisory committee has given the CRB their input and it will be considered and discussed at the July meeting with a report going out in the August Fastrack issue.

My guess is even if it were "approved" now not enough interest has been turned into steel to generate any meaningful increase in car counts this year (2009). After all, the MC motor is an option for regionals now and I don't see people beating the doors down to get on the bandwagon. Maybe the blown motor count in F1000 is holding some people back.

    Jim,
Thanks for the reply. Like many others, I look forward to hearing how the MC conversions perform on the track. I hope the SCCA continues to progress forward with this proposal but as I'm not a current member, I'll limit my opinion to just that thought.
Best wishes & good luck, John Bachmann

    Ted,
The bad economy has held up Dan & Clint for many months and I suspect several others from building their cars. Dan & Clint have begun again to thrash on one MC car in hopes of running the RA regional July 18/19. Jay would have to give an update on his MC car. Others should chim in on theirs.
