Default Who's REALLY Going to the 40th?

Talking with Steve Beeler today he asked if I was going to start a new thread about who is actually going to the 40th, now that registration is officially open, as a way to keep the buzz for this event in the front of everyone's minds.

Steve also asked that everyone be patient (me in particular) about the hiccups they are having with the DLB registration process. In particular, Steve wanted everyone to know that this is a computer problem with DLB that they are working on and was not caused by anyone's error at Cen-Div. Steve said that if you have a problem and choose to contact the event registrar Kay Imig to please be courteous and patient with Kay, she has an enormous task at hand and none of the registration/number problems are her fault.

Over on the other thread started last year, we had more than 125 people indicate they planned on attending the 40th. Obviously that was only people who chose to post on Apex; there were undoubtedly dozens more who didnt post but still planned to attend. And of course some who said they planned to go might end up not being able to make it, so it will be interesting to see just how many cars actually take to the track in July.

Considering that more than 50 people have already registered in the first week, even with the registration glitches, and that we are still 3 months away, it wouldnt surprise me if we saw 200 cars at RA. Maybe someone should start an over/under on the total entries for the event, I'm sure we could come up with a neat little prize.

The online official entry list can be found here:

    http://www.dlbracing.com/clubs/clubd...x?EventID=3858

And here is a running list which we'll update every other day or so:

    Default Me too

I am going with my 1975 Hawke DL-12. I'd like to run the CF race and the regional FF race...if I can run the FF70 group in my config, I'll do that too.

However, I can't seem to register on the site now.. Hopefully it'll be up soon, but I can wait.

thanks for all involved putting it together,

    Default Me too

    Hi,

I am also having trouble with the on-line entry (computer dummy), so the hard copy has been mailed for groups 4 & 6. I would have also entered in Group 9, but the aluminum head precluded that. Can't wait.

    Hey Tom,
I am not actually going to try to drive 2 different cars in both Group s 4 and 6, and expect a mystery guest driver in either the Crossle 30F or the Van Diemen RF81.
So that is not an additional entry as I am listed in both cars in both races, but an additional name.........
And, as co-promter along with the esteemed EWC Commissioner Steve Beeler, with almost 3 months to go to July, we are looking good.
My personal goal is 30-35 marques on grounds, we are at 22 + currently, what a photo op that'll be !

Mike, since in my mind I cant imagine anyone else driving Number 37, I changed the driver name for 87 in both races to reflect your mystery driver. I wonder if any of the younger guys will get my 1960s-era humor.

Cant wait to see who will really be the mystery driver.

    Take care.

    Tom

I too am planning to attend with my Crossle 32F. At least 2 of us from the NW will be heading back there, and hopefully more.

DLB continues to have problems with registration, and the DLB entry list now has many names messed up. I updated the list best I could but will have to wait for DLB to fix their mess.

If you are having trouble with online registration, my advice, mail in your entry to Kay Imig. She will have you registered in a matter of days as opposed to waiting endlessly for DLB to get their act together.

I have been thinking of changing my name to Kent Ford - and in fact somebody's beaten me to the punch - Kent Ford seems to be trying to take my seat as the driver of #9 in both the restricted regional and national, listed in here and in dlb. Either I was really, really drunk when I registered or the gods have changed my name for me or an imposter is trying to take my ride. The driver will be me, not this Kent Ford character. Another spate of registration emails will now ensure. The SCCA region has been so helpful, but dlb has been a bear!

Allen, I'm going to leave you as Kent Ford for now, you and Goggles Pisano make a good team.

While it's definitely a bug in the dlb site (which has to be one of the worst webapps on the Internet; how do they stay in business?) if you log out and back in it seems to fix the name issue. At least it did for me and it was ocurring in multiple events but is now ok for me.

Hey Tim, thanks for the tip---logging back in fixed the DLB entry list names for the 40th for me, but strangely enough did nothing to fix the entry list for the upcoming Summit National this weekend, which continues to show most drivers only by their first initial.

    Take care.

Tom - I like the AKA. It's working for me. Wonderful engine, not so fast a driver. We're trying to fix the driver part.

There is a reason the Atlanta Region dumped DLB and went to a new improved service...

I dont think it's a bug, someone's intentionally having some fun with the names. When I just went to the entry list, Kent Ford had been joined by drivers Mad Professor and Hey You!

Sadly, however, Mike Rand's sponsor is not a typo, as he has apparently decided to continue his association with the sordid Bogfarts Feral Clown Circus, presumably having lost his long-time sponsor Vandelay Industries.

Come on guys, I tee this one up on a silver platter and nobody steps up to hit it? You were supposed to say he lost his sponsor Vandelay Industries because Rand is not "Penske" material. Where are all my Seinfeld fans?

For those who don't know, Mike Rand amuses everyone in the NE with his fictional sponsors that he lists on his entry sheet each race, Vandelay Industries and Bogfarts Feral Clown Circus being two of them. At least, I hope Bogfarts is a fictional sponsor (/shudders if it is real ).

Tom, I was thinking Vandelay was a derivative of Valet! My apologies to Jerry.

I'm still surprised no one shows up sponsored by the famous law firm Dewey, Cheetham & Howe

Vandelay's check bounced, to no one's surprise, and Bogfarts barter deal, Feral Clowns for life, was the best of the rest.......
Was close to a deal with the organizers of Festivus but they all got drunk and realized it wouldn't help anyone.
So I really need serenity now.....

    Default DLB?

Ok, this is the worst online registration I have ever tried to navigate. Frustrating to say the least. Could it be that because I have no current SCCA membership, it is not allowing me to proceed?

Anyway, I am directing foks up here to mail in a hard copy at this time but I am guessing this will slow the process down.

Then again, the problem with online registration could be due to brain fade on my part.

OK, we just hit 125 entries!

If you're looking to get a low number on your car, forget about it. "1" through "20" are gone except for #15, maybe if you hurry you can grab that. And Russ Ruedisueli just jumped everybody and grabbed number "0" so he is now at the head of the FF National list. "00" is still available though.

We are planning to be there. Norm Cowdrey in his Crossle 25/35, Dan Cowdrey in his Titan Mk-6, Mark Weatherup in his Crossle 35, and we are bringing Vern Jaques's Lotus 51 (the car that Jules Williams used to win the very first FF race in the U.S.) driver TBA

Default FF40th - Race Group Clarification

I am considering running in the FF70 race group.

Need a clarification as to which race FF70 will be running in. From what I can determine the Club Ford, and Regional are grouped in the same race. I assume that also includes the FF70 and Vintage groups in the same race, right? This would result in a 76 car race group todate? Am I correct, or is there another setup/schedule for Vintage and FF70?

    Thanks.

Denis, as far as I know the Vintage groups get their own race, and will NOT be joined in with the CF and Regional classes. See this thread by Steve Beeler concerning the schedule:

    Take care.

Total entries have just hit 150 and they are coming in fast now. The National race is now up to 66 cars! This is really going to skew the SCCA's national participation numbers for FF.

The CF and Regional race has 74 cars entered!

And entries for the whole event are only at 206 w/ six weeks to go!

BTW- my car will be there, but only on static display in the paddock. More time to socialize, walk the paddock...oh and drink beer.

This was a hard decision. Do I race the BVR Quad Regional to keep my license or run the 40th... well it is the 40th. Please be advised that the atomic orange color will be a warning that a newbie is driving this track as I will never have been on the track when I take the green for the first practice. If you have a video and are willing to share it, please send the link to prostitch@charter.net. I can't wait to meet everyone!

Hey Del, I also have never been to RA so you won't be the only first timer on the track. I suspect there will be others also.
