I'm there under Ian MacLeod. A group is a good idea. I have no idea how to set it up. Lots of folks out there on that site.

What is facebook?
It's a social networking site. It started as a college student only thing and now it has grown out to everyone.
I'm just helping Brandon Dixon put his together (sometimes), but I am on there as Wren Keith.
Not on Facebook nor have ever worked with it but have my own formula racing website:

Can I incorporate my website to the Facebook?

Having a good directory that all FB owners are on would be great for contact information, questions, and the sharing of information. I know some of the names and active owners who post here at ApexSpeed, which is out main contact for FB talk and discussion. But I am sure many are missing.
There are many ways to promote the FB class via websites or personal websites and photo pages available to anyone on the internet.

I can't really say why, but I haven't felt any desire to be on Facebook. Help me understand its value. Does it do something better (or something I can't do) without it?
I had a personal web site for a few years, but let it die. It was very handy at first to have a place to post pictures, etc. After a while other things came along and the cost and effort to keep it fresh outweighed the value.

I use Danica Patricks website company godaddy.com
I found it to be very reasonable for about $3.50 per month
I also find it easy to use. I think with modern technology the prices to have a website have fallen dramatically.
The same with my photo sites, they are totally free.
I think it would be be nice to have some sort of website available page with a photo gallery of all Formula FB owners with photo and name of all racers within the USA.
I am sure we would all like to see each others cars, and who owns them.
Just a thought. We have a very cool class of Formula race cars and any image piece would only promote our class or least attract interest and questions. As you can see on my website photo pages, I have direct links to places like ApexSpeed.

But isn't ApexSpeed a social networking site? It's a social networking site
All kidding aside Wren - does Brandon have any 5/16" to 1/4" bearing reducers around? I need about 8 of them.
It would be great if Apex had a fan page/group as well. The thought I had about FB for facebook is you can post photos and they will be seen by hundreds if not thousands. Its just another way to promote the cars, people, etc.
Anyone can start a group or fan page on there.
Id like to see an Apex group there. I dont see it as competition, more like adding exposure potential.
We might be able to do this on Mike B's F1000 page. It's already started.

I don't think it's there any more. Or maybe it just moved.
A while back I mused about a registry with pictures (http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23191), but it didn't get any traction. I'd like to put faces and car pictures to names.

It's still there but I'm in the process of upgrading.
www.formula1000.com
The old gallery was outdated and very incomplete. As I get time, I'll add pics that I have but there are lots of new cars that I don't any pics of. Send them to me and I'll upload them.
I also have a registry but I removed it in an effort to make the website more of a race series offering. It's easy to reinstate it but I wasn't sure if anyone ever referred to it.

maybe we will revolutionize the F1000 class.. Just like the supposid obama election was won in aid with twitter...

IMO, the F1000 spreadsheet was great, with two exceptions: It launched Excel rather than showing the info in the browser, and no pictures to associate faces and cars with names.
What would be really cool would be a list of names (and car models, locations, email, etc., with a thumbnail), and clicking on the name would take you to a profile page with driver bio, various pictures (car building process, crew guys, or whatever). For me, that would go a long way in making connections with F1000 peers.

What about the community link on this website? It´s got a social goup section, a place to put names and address´s, etc.
I think the FE guys have something here.
why not do it for all formula classes?
i agree
...and kinda sorry i brought it up
I think it's a good idea. Facebook is a great, particularly if you are in a different time zone to most of your friends and family.

If any Formula F1000 FB drivers/owners want to send me a few photos of their cars, I will attempt to set up a website that we all can view and email to family, friends, fellow racers or prospective FB owner/drivers. Please attach your name and city, state.
Add name or type of car...i.e. PhoenixF1K.07....Novak...etc.
It should be relatively easy to set up. I can at least give it a try, and all of you can be the judge to keep it or delete it.
I can always add photos to the website and I can include links to sites like Apexspeed to take viewers directly here.
This will be a volunteer effort on my part. And perhaps someone can come up with a title page for the site like:
"Formula F1000 Class FB Race Car Owner/Drivers in the USA"
or something else.
