    Default Just wondering...

Maybe someone in the vintage crowd will know the answer to this: From what I've been told there isn't a class for the later (CFC) 2L Pinto Formula Continental cars. As told to me a few years ago the FC cars are grouped in a 'catch all' formula class. In one case I was told that there was no place for the FC cars at all (at that time). Is this still the case?

    Default SVRA

I didn't look up their specifics, but generally if you have a 10 year old car of about any kind, they will try to find a place for you. I suspect that an older FC would run with the fast wings and slicks group - which can be anything from older Atlantics and Super Vee's to F1 cars. Watch those mirrors!

    Thanks.

Looking at the SVRA race groups the place is Group 9 "Wings and Slicks". There was an SCCA FC class that was 1100 cc and they don't specifically mention the 2L powered FC cars but I guess they would allow the cars to run. It would be nice if the rules makers specifically listed this engine though...

I've been told that the CFC cars would very likely get a spot at the VIR Gold Cup if someone wanted.

Default More SVRA, VDCA for CF

SVRA and some other vintage groups have broken with Monoposto's rules regarding CF. Now you can run your CF with Group 2 (which includes the vintage FF's -pre '73) as long as you are on Dunlops. Otherwise, same prep rules - no ally head, etc. Don't know why Monoposto hasn't modified their rules, but it might be political from the VFF guys. CF in Monoposto is like a red headed step child. You can run slicks, but you're out there with really fast stuff - not fun as far as I'm concerned. And it flopped - very little participation.

VDCA has the same approach. Dunlops, race with the VFF's. I have not checked others. Vintage racing has more sanctioning bodies than Carter's has liver pills. (How's that for dating me!).

CFC age cars would run in Group 9 - wings and slicks. I suspect that this group will see some growth in the next few years. CF is starting to grow, so CFC should not be far behind.

SVRA and VDCA know how to treat you right. Good racing, good times.

It's a bit far from Florida, ALL Formula cars, especially old ford powered ones have a great set of classes in the FRCCA. They will run Summit point (2 tracks), Pocono and NJMP this year. Spec slick that lasts all season and a great group of people. Look up the list here they have there own thread.

Monoposto rules currently posted say CF's from 1973 to 1981 (not 1983). Has that changed?
There is a glitch in the continuum...

    Default Monoposto Rules

No, the Monoposto rules for CF are still 'cars manufactured and raced from 1973 to 1981.

    Default Monoposto Rules

Sorry, can't proof my own documents; Monoposto rules state CF cars are "single seat, open wheel race cars manufactured and raced from 1973 through 1981".

The 935 was pretty good, it had a wing though.
