    Default EWC News 12/30/08

    Schedule

The 2009 schedule will look a little different. There is, of course, the huge FF40th weekend in July that must be worked around. Additionally, some of our "traditional" dates are changing another year into the CENDIV/GLDIV split. Here's a provisional 2009 schedule with four weekends for now:

    May 23 & 24 Grattan (double regional)
    July 24 - 26 Road America (FF40th restricted regional)
September 12 & 13 Bluegrass Raceway (double regional)
    October 10 & 11 Mid-Ohio (double regional)

I am hoping to add a fifth weekend if I can find one that fits. A final 2009 EWC schdule will be published no later than January 31, 2009.

    Contingency Awards

The 2009 EWC will again feature an extensive contingency award program. Don't quit your day job just yet, but I expect that the FF40th will provide an opportunity to grow the program. More details to follow in the weeks and months ahead.

Please feel welcome to contact me with schedule ideas and leads on series sponsors.

Well done! It looks like a good schedule and maybe we can pull some of the guys from southern Indiana and Kentucky into the series.

How about it Tom, John, Wes, et al?

    Default Yee Hah!

Finally a track and a race within an hour from my house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job Steve. I got invited for a drive around at Bluegrass raceway in January. I'll give everybody an update afterward. Although I hear it's first class!

I'm also glad East vs. West is involved with the big 40th bash. 2009 is shaping up to be a banner year for Formula Fords.

Oh, and if you haven't raced with Dave you don't know what competition is!

    Steve,
Looks like a great schedule! I hope to make more EWC events in 2009, hopefully with a car that lasts full rce distance instead of dying 2 or 3 laps from the end!

    Wes,
How did you score the tour of Bluegrass? I live a little south of Nashville and would be interested in going up there too, maybe with my son!

    Default Bring It!

Garey, get ahold of a GT-R for us to drive around and I'll get you an invite. Seriously if you want to go PM me and I'll see if I can get you an invite.

Bluegrass raceway? Must be brand new since I have never heard of it. There a website? New tracks are always good!

Default No driving on it just yet

It looks like their asphalt guru has recommended no driving on it right now due to the freezing and thawing going on but you can walk the track. Right now their is a PDX scheduled for early May that I think the Western Ohio region is coordinating besides WOR games there in the fall. Looks to be a very fun track with over 100 feet of elevation changes, a Monza style curve (yes banked), numerous blind apexes and some other fun challenges according to Kurt Niemeyer who is in our region and is the Director of Marketing.
