I always pay attention at drivers meetings.
At the ARRC drivers meeting last Friday, GT1Vette was running through the usual instructions for all of us to play nice, then at the end he did mention that he had thrown his hat in the ring in an attempt to convince the BOD that he should be SCCA's new president.
Those that have been reading Apexspeed for the past 8(?) years have read a lot of what GT1Vette has to say. Known in the rest of the world as Butch Kummer, he has been involved in this craziness since the late 60s, which you would think would make him eligible only for all the old gray haired awards. Not so grasshoppers.
Last weekend he was seriously piloting his big red loud taxicab rapidly around Road Atlanta. The fastest he's ever gone in a GTA car, so he's not slowing down.
He drives a tin-top but yet if you have followed Apexspeed, he understands the formula car issues and has helped us a lot in the past. Proof of how he operates has been his role as Competition Director in the Atlanta Region. He has had much to do with making the ARRC the success it has become. He isn't just a regional guy. Having done the Runoffs in his mighty GT1 Vette, he's there every year crewing for others. He's participated in, or organized in his career, rallies, solos, races, and car shows. For years he was the SEDIV solo chairman, and is still a big proponent of solo in the club. A week before he raced in the ARRC, he raced in a Solo time trial at Roebling Road. He's not isolated in one corner of the club.

Posting here may not mean much, but if you think the BOD needs your opinion about a good presidential canidate, shoot them an email.
