Default Ben Cooper, Barber race winner picture

This post will be a surprise to Ben. He hasn't seen this picture yet. I picked it up for him at the track after he left. The trophies for the event were plaques that accept photos. Photographers took pictures during the event. It was a nice idea.

Anyway, here is Ben, dirt tracking around the hair pin. I'm not sure if he is showing great car control, or about to crash. :-).

Hey, wait a minute. I thought only us guys with a locked rear axle (spool) had to drive hair pins like dirt trackers!
I do agree that the photo trophies are the best trophies I've received in my 20 years of SCCA racing.

Thanks Russ! Maybe I should have been in Belgium today? I hope there's not a 2 seconds later shot that's all I can say : )

I think I'll stay away from the ovals Glen - too many things to hit.

Wait, is that an FE with a 1000cc in it? Looks beautiful! This is what ive thought about for a while. If that is the case, and i dont know what else it could be, can you buy FE rollers?

My car was built new as an F1000 car. It does share the same chassis as the FE car but most of the bodywork is specific to this car (although it looks very similar), and of course the rear end is totally different to suit the Suzuki motor. The beauty of this class is the fact that, within the regs you are free to develop the car as much as want.

Hey Ben, if you "really" want to develop your car as much as you want you could homologate it as a FS. Other than the safety rules there are "no" rules. Great class for us guys that like to play.

have you thought about using any parts, diffuser for example, from the VD formula ireland cars? I know those are monocoque cars but they are sister cars to the FE. I have some pictures of modified VD FIreland cars on my other computer that have some pretty cool wings/appendages.

Scott, are you sure you want Ben in your class? :-).

Misterkris, that's kinda funny, only because I know that Ben has worked in F1 and manufacturers doing aerodynamics, and these days he is doing high quality composite work. It's funny to think he'd pay money to his old employer for something he could probably do much better himself. :-).

Hey Russ. Sure, I'd love to have a talented kid like Ben as a competitor. I'd enjoy having a modification contest with him, besides that might give me the incentive I need to supercharge the Busa!

Ah, but you don't mind the "Talented" tag. :-).

I was 32 once. Lasted about a year. Don't remember too much about it. Something happened at Tiananmen Square. We got our first Bush president. Oliver North was convicted of something. Zsa Zsa Gabor was arrested for slapping a Beverly Hills motorcycle patrolman. It's kind of a blur.

Ben, I *finally* got your Barber trophy picture in the post to you today, so hopefully it will arrive soon.
