    Default BLACKHAWK EWC FAQ's

    (1) Who has entered? As of Tuesday evening, there were 17 confirmed entries (see list below) and I'm still working on about 7 drivers who are sitting on the fence. The early line on the over/under (18 cars) is looking pretty good. Thanks again to everyone for all the interesting e-mails.

Dave Harmison, Royale RP-21, CFF, E
Phil Kingham, Zink Z-10C, CFF, E
Chuck Smith, Tiga FFA-81, CFF, E
Mike Green, Lola T-440, CFF, E
    Pete Wood, Crossle32F, CFF, W
Alan Murray, Crossle 45F, CFF, W
Bob Hall, Crossle 35F, CFF, W
John Haydon Jr, Tiga FFA-80, CFF, W
Don Recupido, Lola T-440, CFF, W
Paul Reineck, Van Diemen RF98, FF, W
John Luxon, Piper DF-2, FF, W
Tom Stillwell, Swift DB-1, FF, W
Allen Wheatcroft, Van Diemen RF98K, W
Bill Bergeron, Van Diemen RF90, FF, W
Andrew Genkinger, Mondiale M85S, FF, W
Brad Ellingson, Swift DB-1, FF, W
Dan Johnson, Van Diemen RF84, FF, W

    (2) Who's holding the Saturday evening prize drawing? You may have noticed that I am going to have to miss the weekend. I have deputized Phil and Sarah Kingham to hold the Saturday evening prize drawing. Keep your eyes and ears open for the time and place.

    (3) Will there be any "tweener" cars running CFF? Maybe. If Jeff Primm gets his Van Diemen RF84 repaired, he will be running it on Hoosier R60s in Club Ford.

    (4) Will there be an EWC poster this year? Yes! John Luxon (Luxon Printing) has generously offered to do a series poster again this year. Larry Best will be at the track taking photos. Be sure to be at the Saturday evening prize drawing for the group photo.
Posters will be distributed at the Mid-Ohio and Road America EWC weekends.

I'm not sure which way to hope on that one! Jeff is a good guy and great to race with, but he's getting quicker in that car every weekend, and I have a feeling he's really going to get along well with the R60s.

Jeff, if you beat me this time, the coaching's over!

    Default 17 + 0 = 17

We are still at 17 cars...no adds or drops today.

That's an awfully wonderful compliment. I don't believe I'd let you down with my young skill level on R60's seeing as I raced a single set of tires for 2 years before getting a new pair. Ha Ha I feel i already have R60's experience but trust me, I won't let you down.

    Default aw damn

It appears my highest place in the listings was in the 4th place in the entry listing. oops.

I'd like to point out that I not only lost one nose piece during the race, but both of the noses the Lola has..... Thanks Bruce for pulling off the 2nd nose because my pit crew was wearing flip-flops and couldn't get into the pit :-)

It seems outside of our body work fastening issue (the car to us like that, really!), we have a coil that self destructed, leaving me finishing the race behind the workers station at the carousel (which, those workers were great! I've seen planes directed into parking places with less direction) rather than running the entire race.

I will say, in summary, that running the car without front bodywork down the front straight really, really, really makes cooling in the summer much easier. I'm pretty sure the ram-air effect down the legs and, uhm, other stuff, is quite nice.

    regards,

    Mike

Hey Brad, I finished Sunday too. Didn't I??

Yeah, there I am -- between Hall and Stillwell.

You poor guys at the front of the pack missed a really cool sight -- a Crossle 35 nose flying (gliding, soaring, circling) about 20-30 feet in the air. It flew off of Bob Hall's car in the silo turn on lap 1, and had so much hang time that the 3 of us behind him all drove under it without any danger of being hit. It caught some serious air and tumbled in midair, dancing like a kite, gracefully riding the changing winds... and DISTRACTING ME while Bob drove off into the distance.

Yeah, like I had any chance of keeping up with him anyway.

Sorry about that John. Tried doing the copy and paste thing from mylaps, but there was too much post editing involved. Probably should have just posted that link. I did know you finished on Sunday...I was right behind you at the end. For some reason going into 1 and 7 it felt like the car was on the rev limiter. I doubt I was going that fast...i was too chicken after feeling something not right in the back end.....the car's, not mine. Turns out I snapped off a stud on the left rear.
