    Results of Race 1:

    1. Neil Shelton 1:28.568 Swift DB6
    2. Rick Payne 1:28.609 Swift DB1
    3. Larry Bangert 1:29.446 Swift DB1
    4. Mark Keller 1:29.106 Swift DB1
    5. Timothy Osborne 1:33.104 Crossle 32F
    6. Jerry Pacheco 1:36.497 Van Diemen

As the lap times indicated 1/2 then 3/4 split into their own private races. It was a great duel for the lead right up until the last laps with Shelton and Payne swapping the lead back and forth.

Stan Townes who had no time in qual. yesterday was a DNS.

    Race 2 and qual tomorrow.

Seattle Double National Pacific Raceways - Race 2

    1. Rick Payne 1:29.239 Swift DB1
    2. Mark Keller 1:30.286 Swift DB1
    3. Larry Bangert 1:29.321 Swift DB1
    4. Jerry Pacheco 1:36.591 Van Diemen
    5. Neil Shelton 1:30.377 Swift DB6
    6. Timothy Osborne 1:34.139 Crossle (DSQ completed 19 of 20 laps)

The reason for Osborne's DSQ is unknown to this author? Hmmm. He took the cool down lap.

The much anticipated lead swap between Payne and Shelton was short lived. Early in the race, Shelton took a trip in the dirt and up the bank at T-3 (cause unknown). When he came by T-5 he was obviously checking things out and trying to decide how best to remove the layer of dirt on his tires . He took a few cautious laps to make sure everything was still fit, then proceded to carefully work his way to a race finish at least. Payne pulled away to a comfortable lead. Keller and Bangert ran together for a while then, Bangert had a bit of a thing with an FV in T-3 and dropped back.

    Good race overall though!

DQ was for being 4# underweight.

Never thought about weighing it, it was a borrowed car with a couple suboptimal gearings, waiting on my FA to be finished. Oh well.

It was clear to me that driving a club Ford aero brick against slippery Swifts was not a winning proposition.

Watching Neil launch up the outside of T3 was like watching a video game. Amazing/frightening.
