    Default Muffler Help

O.K. great progres has been made on the car with a focused effort this weekend. Pictures to follow. I need to buy a muffler for the exhaust system. I can get a good deal on a 2.25" x 4.5" x 10" long unit. My question is...is this too short to make the required sound levels? What are other guys running successfully? Obviously, I don't want to buy something that I will have to replace after the first outing. TIA.

I've been using this one (http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...p?Product=1840) from Pegasus for over three years (without even repacking it) with my ZX-10R with no problems. I do use a 90 degree elbow to direct the sound away from the microphone.

    Dave,
Are you using the 14" one or the longer one? I have one of the shorter ones here and was thinking of giving it a try, but as previously pointed out, you don't like being wrong at the track without a backup plan.

    Jay:

    I'm using the 14inch (2.25inch inlet/outlet).

Default Great Deals at Coast Fab

The guys a Coast Fabrication gave me a great deal on an '07 muffler. Gary was very plesant to deal with. Thanks to everybody for thier feedback. It sounds like the 10" will work. Pics of the progress to follow.

FormulaSuper said he raced his Hayabusa without a muffler a few times and was below the limit. That makes me think our stock engines do not need much silencing. That's pure speculation on my part.

I have a small Coast muffler (not sure what length) and haven't been close to the limit when I've checked sound readings.
