Default Add sensor bungs to my new header before ceramic coating?

    Looking for comments and suggestions.

Next week I'm having my header coated. Once coated, it wont be easy to modify/weld.

Any advice regarding bungs to be added before coating?

    Two thoughts:

    1) EGT (which I guess would be a few inches down one of the primary pipes).

    2) Lamba O2 sensor (in collector).

Either of those have advantages/disadvantages over the other?

I have an AIM Mychron3 XG-Log and hope to have a Power Commander some day for adjusting air/fuel ratio. Even before I get the PC, I'm interested to know if I may be lean at times due to the mods done thus far (exhaust) and future (air box).

    TIA for any suggestions.

Can you install two bungs that get a threaded plug when not in use? I like the idea.

    Yep.

I'm hoping someone might chime in with antidotes about how one of those sensors was advantageous to have, especially if used in conjunction with an AIM system.

Hey, ask George if he has any thoughts or suggestions.

not sure if it would apply here but i've heard of drag racers and offshore power boat guys with big cube supercharged motors using EGTs and o2 sensors to monitor thier air fuel mixtures and fine tune their timing. If the egts get too high or low they have a little control box that can advance or retard the timing with the twist of a knob. I'm pretty sure thats is pre ECU days though.

Default Ellen Ferguson @ Veracity is the best!

I'm sure many of you know Ellen at Veracity Data and have experienced great service. She is awesome.

She called me and we talked about some options. There are a few pros and cons for both EGT and O2 sensing. Bottom line - She's sending me an O2 sensor that will work with my XGLog for about $200. That's much less than I was expecting for logging air/fuel ratio while I'm on the track.

She helped me with a different problem, too, that I had posted in the S2000 DA forum (http://s2racing.yuku.com/forums/4/t/...scussions.html)

    Thanks, Ellen!
