Great! Now Any video or basic walkthrough of the place?
Matthew Inge
Matthew, I see your profile has a FSCCA car on it. Trim the wings as flat as they will go or take them off like the F/A and F/C guys do. This track is the fastest track you will ever be on ( maybe RA is faster?) never been there. As far as a "walk through" you won't need one. There's not much to it as far as the "road course" goes. You'll pick it up very fast. The key to Pocono is STRAIT LINE SPEED! If you need some pointers, look me up. I hold the GT3 lap record there and know the place pretty well. I'll be driving a White Swift DB6 F/F #20 that weekend. Usually park near the gas pumps.

Matt,
Just follow me all weekend and you'll be all set.
I've never run there either, but it should be a good plan. No passing!
Justin
Mike,
That sounds great, I might stop by sometime because I might not be able to make the test day since that is the weekend before school starts. I appreciate it and look forward to seeing you there.
P.S. I wish we could take the wings off but we are a spec car so any adjustments like that might raise a little suspicion.
Justin,
Looking forward to racing against you again. I am sure we will have a good battle. The idea sounds great but I know you wouldnt mind if I was in front leading the train.
Are you going to VIR the weekend before? See you at the races.

I had this same question a couple years ago when I ran my FSCCA car at the pocono national. I believe the GCR does say "has to be run as delivered". Even with the wings 145+ mph was no problem, could even draft an atlantic if they passed you at the right spot but remember you cant stop as good as they can in turn 1 I learned that the hard way!

Keegan,
Interesting enough you and Justin both replied to this because I just so happened to come across the FA National Championship race at MID-O for 2005. I saw you both on there, of what little they showed. What have you been running since? F2000?
Matthew Inge
I sold my FSCCA car last summer and bought an RF05 zetec. The FSCCA car was great to learn the ropes on but you should try and drive an f2000 car if you get a chance they are amazing. I do miss the burnouts the FSCCA car could do but the handling more than makes up for it. Also the 40 car fields and close racing of the F2000 championship is where a young driver belongs. Good luck against Justin he is fast!

Everything in the infield section is late, I mean very late, like tomorrow late, as far as apex is concerned.
You'll find that a middle of the track entry into turn one is the smoothest approach and lets you gain control after the bumps there. The bumpiness is due to the transitions from the straight to the pitlane to the infield.
Devil's elbow is super late application of throttle since the track transition there tends to create horrendous understeer towards the outside wall, seen lots of broken race cars there.
You can trail brake into the chicane, but give it a super late turn-in so you can get back on the throttle flat for a nice long straightaway from apex of that to the turn-in of one.

Huh? The GCR says that FC is a winged class. In other words, wings are a requirement, not an option. If the tech folks/stewards are awake, they'll ensure that you have wings!

Correct it does say FC needs wings but doesnt specify how small they can be.

Thanks Guys for all the help! Is there an open Test Day on Thursday?
Matthew Inge
Sorry to say that there is no test day on Thursday. The track holds no test days, and the cost of the track rental, getting the required SCCA sanction, and the low number of people wanting to test makes it a major money losing issue.

Keegan, you wouldnt happen to have any in car footage from when you raced there or any other tracks in Southeast , East..?
