    Default HGP Events

For all those interested and with time on their hands I urge you to visit one of the three races in the next three weeks to see the Historic GrandPrix cars in action. We'll be at the Glen this coming weekend (July 6-8), Tremblant the next (July 12-15), and Road America the following one (July 20-22.)

Check out www.historicgrandprix.com for some of the entrants. Stop by and say hello.

I met Charles a few years ago at the Glen for the Historic Race/IRL race. The HGP series does a very nice job. They park all the cars under a giant tent and the access allowed to them is great. It was fun to see the cars in action and hear the cosworths and the ferrari v-12. Brought back some great memories from the 70's at the Glen. Have fun this weekend Charles.

    Default HGP at the GLEN

Update of the Glen HGP. We had our feature race today. Won by Hamish Sommerville of Ottawa, Canada, in a Williams FW07b 1979 (Allan Jones). Second place Ari Luyendyk in a 1978 Wolf WR-6 (Jody Sheckter), and third Bud Moeller in a Ferrari 312T05, 1980 (Gilles Villeneuve.) Weather was glorious. 16 startes and 13 finishers, with no incidents or damage. That's the way a weekend should run.

We have a warm up Sunday morningat 8:30 and a small race just before the IRL event. If you are nearby, come on down

Hamish won the Sunday event, from Ari and Sean Allen. His best time was 1:47.3. Most of us are in the 1:51 area with some a bit slower. As a reference, the pole time for the IRL race the same weekend was 1:29.19 (Castroneves). Not sure what Champ cars did - I'd guess a bit faster.
