    Default Gingerman EWC

I know, I know . . . we haven't even run Blackhawk yet. But FAASST, a racing school out of Colorado, is running a school/track day at G-man on July 27th, the Friday before our EWC weekend there. To run this day, you have to register with FAASST, not G-man. They do instruction for novices and also sessions for licensed drivers looking for track time, to learn a new track, or to shakedown cars. If interested, here's the link:

This date (7/27/07) has now been changed to an open track day run by GingerMan. Preregistration is available via

    Default Cost

The Registration doesn't mention a cost. Any idea how much?

Also, I don't see this event on DLB. No online registration for this event?

This is kind of far for me but family commitments have changed my schedule and I'm trying to figure out where to race next.

    Garey,

I don't know about the DBL registration side of this. The track day is separate from the double regional race weekend and is run by the race track. I believe that the track day fee is $150. The track day runs 9-5.

I'm really hoping to spread the word and bring FF/CFF drivers out to the double regional in big numbers. I myself come in from TX so having a test day for a 3-day weekend makes the travel even more worth it. If you drive a FF or CFF, the East West challenge is really a fun race.

    Default Enter Early...and Enter Often

Same drill at GingerMan as was at Blackhawk: Fort Wayne Region will provide a single race group for FF/CFF but only if we deliver the cars. Therefore, if you are planning on running the GingerMan EWC weekend, please enter right away.

Many thanks in advance to Jason Byers who will be helping with the GingerMan driver recruiting.

Much more on this topic to follow in the next few days...

Default First Look at GingerMan EWC Entry List

At 15 days and counting before the GingerMan EWC weekend, here's a first look at the entry list with many, many people not yet accounted for:

    CONFIRMED (5)

Phil Kingham, Zink Z-10C, CFF, E
Brad Hayes, Zink Z-16, CFF, E
Francis Kennette, Euroswift SC97, FF, E
    Dave McGinnis, Vector, FF, E
Allen Wheatcroft, Van Diemen RF98K, FF, W

    PROBABLE/POSSIBLE (11)

Dave Harmison, Royale RP-21, CFF, E
    Mike Neylon, Lola T-440 / Zink Z-10, CFF, E
No Driver, Van Diemen RF-78, CFF, E
    Garey Guzman, ???, FF, E
Gordy Good, March 88C, FF, E
Craig Jones, Van Diemen RF-98K, FF, E
John Wagner, Van Diemen RF-98, FF, E
Andrew Genkinger, Mondiale M85S, FF, W
Pat Mackey, Euroswift SC94, FF, W
    Ian Lenhart, No Car, W
    Joe Tovo, No Car, W

The "No Driver" is not a joke. Ron Tebo's back is acting up but his Club Ford is just minutes from the track and ready to race. Ron has offered to rent the car to help get the car count up. Way to go, Ron. I'm not so sure about Gordy Good getting his March through tech...

Realistically, we've got a week to get the car count up. Enter early, and enter often. Please do not wait until the last minute.

    Ron,

I might be interested in a rental ride. Does it include the Ron and Ron comedy show. Send me an email with your rental rate.

Default GingerMan EWC Enrry List Update 07/14/07

The last 24 hours has brought good news re: the GingerMan EWC entry list...

    - Dave McGinnis (Vector, FF, E) is a confirmed entry per Gordy Good

    - Ian Lenhart and Joe Tovo are looking for rental cars...and not the kind you find at Hertz

    - Craig Jones (Van Diemen RF-98K, FF, E) checked in earlier today as a "possible"

I have still not yet heard from 37 drivers in the EWC entry pool. If you have not checked in, please do so right away. And, of course, enter early and enter often.

You can move me from the "probable" list to the "confirmed" list.

    Default More Good News

At 11 days and counting, there was more good news in my e-mail today.

Brad Hayes (Zink Z-16, CFF, E) checked in to update his status from probable to confirmed. Way to go, Brad.

John Wagner also checked in. He rates himself as possible. John's not driven his Van Diemen RF-98 in awhile. If anyone is available to give him a hand during the Friday test day, it might tip the scales.

    More news to follow.

    Default Ooops!

Ooops! I missed Pat Mackey (Euroswift SC94, FF, W). Pat is "probable/possible" pending completion of an engine rebuild. Good luck, Pat!

For those of you keeping score, this brings the GingerMan early entry list up to 5 confirmed and 11 probable/possible. Enter early, and enter often.

John, let us know what you need. We are planning on being at the track Friday. Have 2 cars ready, Brad's Z16 and Michael's Tatuus FC, waiting parts for Z10 and Lola 440. Look for the "neon" #6 Continental and introduce yourself. I am sure we can lend a hand. E-mail me with questions and needs. Chuck,Michael,Sam,Brad,Steve and Steve, Mike N. and maybe Shayne. (yes our little Anderson group is growing) Looking forward to seeing everyone again. Hope our parts come in.

Quick update. I'm busted hard trying to get my car back together after the engine explosion. I'd put the odds at 75% I'll make it. Lots of work getting the shrapnel.

    Default Go Dave, Go!

I exchanged e-mails with Dave Harmison earlier today. The new engine has fired up. Barring any unforseen complications, it looks like he'll make it.

Any other good news out there?

    Default GingerMan EWC Car Count

I wish the news was better but it looks like the "possible/probable" list dried up for the most part. Craig Jones, Ian Lenhart, Joe Tovo, John Wagner, and Pat Mackey all sent their regrets. Ron Tebo could not get a deal done for his car. Gordy Good took the wings off of his March but was unable to pass off a turbo Buick V-6 as a Kent. I have not heard anything more from Mike Neylon, Andrew Genkinger, and Gary Guzman. Such is the life of an EWC driver recruiter...

But there is some good news. Let's all welcome "vancourt" to the EWC.

I'll be at the track Saturday for the EWC prize drawing. Time and place to be announced.

    Steve,
I was just sitting down at the computer to email you. With my wife in the first tri-mester, I was hoping for a sudden relief fron the nausea and general yuckiness she's been going through but it hasn't come. Without the late fees, I was waiting until the last minute to make the final decision. Sad to say, I will miss this event.

But I'm still planning on MidOhio!! Who's with me!!

I am sitting in my motel room in South Haven after a test day (wicked hot and humid until very late in the day) and registration for the weekend. I left my registration package at the race track. I think I recall in FF Francis Kennette, Dave McGinnis, a driver whose name I forget (must be Mr Vancourt!), and me. In CFF it looks like Dave Harmison, Phil Kingham, and Brad Hayes. Great weather, wonderful track, the awesome EWC--and we have just 7 cars (maybe 8 if I missed a name), and we are grouped with FSTs, Vees, and 500s. I think that the field will be 16-17 strong. Our low turn-out, it must be noted, isn't unique. The race officials have eliminated race group 4 (I don't know what group they combined the GT1's and so on with). GingerMan turn-outs, except when Midwestern Council ran here, have been really low the past few years. I know that this weekend we're competing with the CAT National at RA. But RA has already had a double regional and the Sprints--we will be there (I hope with many more entries) in late August, and the Midwestern Council has a double weekend in late September. So I am sitting here perplexed, confounded, confused, and befuddled. Ok, kind of the way I have been known to drive . . . I am definitely not giving those drivers with car, money, family, or other issues a hard time. Just reporting who's here and pondering . . .

    Default My fault

For the record, the tangling with the FV was entirely my fault. I was lapping him and misjudged both where I was going to end up and where he was going to be, and we touched.

It was kinda fun on Saturday winning overall in a CFF, though!
