    Default Road Atlanta Natiional

    Who's going?

Please note that Atlanta Region will NOT take money at the track! From the website:

MARCH National / Double Pro-IT INFORMATION

    Supps Schedule PDX Supps

    Registration Links

    National Pro-IT(Sat) Pro-IT(Sun) PDX

NO "AT TRACK" ENTRIES IN 2007

All entry fees must be paid prior to the event. No money will be collected at the track, use the options available from on-line registration. This will speed up registration and help timing and scoring.

And as I've stated many times in the past, checks are not deposited until after the event and full refunds will be automatically given for no-shows, no questions asked. There is NO reason not to register (and pay) now if you think there's the slightest possibility you may be attending.

Registration at the gate is a major PITA for all involved. We have less than ten at each event, and most of those are the same people every time in spite of the $100 late fee we've been charging the last two years. It's not like you get up Saturday morning and say, "It's a really nice day, let's load the car up and go to Road Atlanta for the weekend!" Those that consistently register late have no regard for their fellow club members.

    Default Big FF group!

As of 12 PM CST, there were 10 FF's entered including the last 2 National Champs! Looks like a showdown!

Too bad I'll be too far back to see any of it. I hope someone will be taking pictures! Will there be a TV crew?

It says no at track entries.... but what about pre-registering and then just handing the good folks at the window a check?

I'm all for increasing efficiency at the registration trailer but is this saying they will no longer take your check at the event? I'm thinking that the folks who don't preregister or who make changes to crew, entrant, etc are responsible for 90% of the wait.... handing over a check when you sign your releases takes seconds!

    Sean,

Accepting the check is easy, but it's the reconciliation of the payment after the fact that's driving this change. With everything else that goes on in the Registration building over the weekend, sitting down on Sunday afternoon to figure out which check goes with which entry is adding to the workload of our volunteer staff. And some of them have said they'd like to actually watch some racing rather than spend all Sunday afternoon in the Registration building! The more we can get done beforehand the easier on our members.

And as I wrote before, we automatically send back checks (or do a PayPal refund) for no-shows, so there's no reason not to get your payment in early.

On another note, a couple of you have asked about the possibility of moving FE from Group 2 to Group 6 (the traditional Wings & Things). The reason we did this grouping is because over the last three years we've averaged less than 15 cars in the "small" formula car group and almost 40 in the "big" group. So I make the change in an attempt to equalize the group sizes and now we've got more FFs than we've had in the entire group previously! Since the supps have been approved and Registration is open, the only way to change the groups or schedule is through the SOM. As we get closer to the event, we will continue to monitor the counts and see if such a change is feasible. The major potential show-stopper (other than pumber conflicts, but we can handle that) is if anyone has made work/travel arrangements based on the original schedule.

Finally, I realized just today that I've got Pro-IT and Spec Miata running back-to-back (SM is the only class that can run in both races). To alleviate this incovenience, we may request swapping groups 2 & 3 in the qualifying order on Saturday. Again, such a change will have to be approved by the SOM.

There are now 16 FF's entered!! This will be the biggest FF field I've ever driven with!

    Garey,
Maybe I should rent your spare DB-1... (many have said that I have never used the wings on a FC to date, so I won't miss them.)
This is shaping up to be one hell of a show!

but you must be logged in to see the entry list...but its the same system you should have account to as it was the only means to register for the Runoffs (or did Bobby Caldwell register you for that race? )

I have crew space so let me know through PM (in my profile). So I guess in the DLB site I enter as if I'm registering? I was afraid I might register twice. I find the DLB site difficult to navigate, but, then again, I ain't the brightest bulb in the box. Hey Tim! I think Bobby Caldwell would have to register. I don't actually have is info. Who knew my alter ego had the same name as an actual FC driver. I guess I'll have to rename my alter ego. Purple, you should rent a DB-1 for the race, that would be awsome. I am trying to get Mike Rand to come down too. He seems reluctant. We need to find a tree in the paddock to stick him under. Perhaps the allure of Dark & Stormies will help!

    Default DLB site

After you log in, don't proceed to registration. Instead, click on the Calendar (I go to Calendar View), then click on the little icon on the right for the entry list. When you hold the mouse over the con, it should say "Entry list".

If you proceed thru registration, you will ener twice. (Don't ask how I know this)

with all the gripes we make about car count and not having enough cars for a good race, I cant imagine anyone within a days drive skipping this event. Perfect oppurtunity to have a 20+ car race at a decent facility.

Thanks y’all, but I may have been premature on the crew idea. I’ve been informed by the girl friend she already has tickets to a Jim Gafigan comedy show for that weekend. She did say “you have fun at the race track, I’ll find some other guy to go with me”

I’ll get back with you on the crewing if I work this out.

It should be quite an interesting race group with 11 FE's and a couple more still to register. So far we are the largest group which should make for some exciting battles all over the track.

    Default Changing Race Groupings

As I've written previously, it's no longer "my" event. We based the groupings on average attendance the last three years and now that the sanction has been issued the SOM must make any changes to Groupings or Schedule. Such an action results from a request by the Chief Steward.

The Chief Steward for this event is Toni Creighton. From discussions with her she's disinclined to change things unless a group is either over or under subscribed. Since the track limit at Road Atlanta is 67 cars, we're not at that point. Any driver or entrant can make such a request, I'm just telling you what she said last night.

    Shh!, Don't tell anyone.

Billy G. usually runs CSR and FA. (2 poles and 2 wins at Savanah at 66) but they're in the same group at RA. So I'm taking the wings off the FA and running it as a FF. It is a 1600!!

Check the totals again, FE has not been the largest class in that group for some time, Wouldnt it be a shame for some old antique tractor motored, non winged, out dated technology cars to interfere with the race that is the start of your "series"? I think you all should email Toni Creighton to get moved to the faster open wheel group. Besides, do you all want to get spanked by a young kid in a 17 year old car???

About Us
Since 2000, ApexSpeed.com has been the go-to place for amateur road racing enthusiasts, bringing together a friendly community of racers, fans, and industry professionals. We're all about creating a space where people can connect, share knowledge, and exchange parts and vehicles, with a focus on specific race cars, classes, series, and events. Our community includes all major purpose-built road racing classes, like the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and various pro series across North America and beyond. At ApexSpeed, we're passionate about amateur motorsports and are dedicated to helping our community have fun and grow while creating lasting memories on and off the track.
